Getting Married in SGOR in April....could definately use some pointers....PLZ!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I am getting married on April 11 at 2:00 PM at SGOR. It will only be my fiance and myself and this is our first marriage. We are looking at the beach for our wedding since there will only be the two of us. I didnt have a really good experience with the first wedding coordinator we were put with who was Diedra so we are getitng a new one. We chose the beautiful beginnings package and we didnt have a photographer so we had to go with Sandals...I know its expensive but at this point we dont have a choice. I could use all the suggestions and advice I can get from any of you that have been married here. I am planning on getting my hair and make up done at the spa there. Please give me all advice and suggestions...I really could use it. Thanks girls.

Hey Shyla!

I got married there on Dec 21, if you have any questions email me, I will be able to help, also I have all the locations pics. There are a few wedding pics in my signature. Check them out too. BTW beach is not a good location to get married there, very small and not private at all

My husband and I were married there April 30th of last year.  Our wedding coordinator was Vinnette (sp?).  She was AMAZING.  The sandals photographers are great--we loved our photos.  They don't touch them up or anything but you can do a lot of that on your own anyway.  We were so incredibly impressed with our whole experience.  What I will tell you--the people that you talk to on the phone are in Miami.  They are salesmen/women.  They are NOT (and many have never been) onsite.  Why I am telling you this is because when you get there, some things may change.  Shouldn't be an issue since it is just the two of you (like it was with us). Don't stress. Vinnette or whomever you deal with on site will make everything perfect.  I had my hair and makeup done at the spa and they were great.  They do a fantastic job.

As far as location goes, I agree with Kat2012--the beach isn't the best place.  We were married on the pier outside Kimono's because that was the prettiest spot to us.  There is one gazebo that most people get married at but honestly, I didn't like it.  They don't make you decide any of that until you get there anyway so you will have time to look around some beforehand.

I also have a few pictures in my profile.  I can get you more if you want to look--I just couldn't get them to upload.

Let me know if I can help!

Hey I am also getting married on June 15 at 2:00pm at SGOR. Shyla I was having similar questions. I really wanted a beach wedding but after reading how there is just not any privacy this concerns me. After looking at several pictures I was wondering if anyone has looked or if it is possible to get married in front of the part that sticks out and looks incredibly green. I also loved the pier idea and loved those pictures. I guess I am still fighting for the beach.   I am also just going with the BB package and more than likely will just be my finance and I. We are going with the photography there at Sandals and going to try to see if someone we meet would film for us for our kids with our camera. Nothing like cutting costs!!! Just can't see  I have gone back and forth about getting my makeup done since I am so sensitive to makeup or if I can handle my hair down but very thick but I look better with it down. If you all have any pointers I would love them. Shyla looks like you are going first so maybe we can work through this together and you can let me know how it is when you go. I won't be far behind. I don't know about you but I am concerned about the heat at 2:00pm!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
