Need Help on which Resort to Pick!

Hello all! I have been engaged for 3 months and I have had my heart set on getting married at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun Mexico. My travel agent just forwarded me the prices for the resort and they are WAY over my budget! (in the cheapest room its $192 per PERSON per NIGHT...seems a little crazy to me!)

So I was wondering if someone could recommend something to me! The reason we are doing a destination wedding is to save some costs and also to have our closest friends and family travel together! I just couldnt dare ask them to spend that much on our wedding.

We would like to go to Mexico and Cancun is our number 1 choice! So ANY information would honestly be soooo appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks =)

Hi!  I understand your concern about pricing.  Its hard to tell people what to spend when everyone has a different budget.  That could be normal for that resort, I don't know.  If you want to get some ideas of pricing, you might want to try one of the BDW Travel Agents.  They Specialize in Destination weddings.  You can contact them HERE!

I've never been to Mexico, so unfortunately can't give advice there.  But I wanted to say congratulations on your engagement and welcome to the forum!  Picking the resort was one of the hardest choices (for me anyway) so I do not envy where you are right now in your planning, but you will feel a HUGE weight relief once you are booked.

In November, we went to a wedding at Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe in Riviera Maya outside of Cancun. It was a wonderful resort, and the wedding was beautiful.  I think we paid a similar rate to what you were quoted, so that may not be too helpful.  But as suggested, contact one of the travel agents and see if they are able to work something better for you.

Congratulations and welcome to the forums! Here is a link that may help you on choosing a resort: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/a/how-to-pick-a-resort-for-a-destination-wedding

As well... I shoot upwards of 50 weddings a year here in the Mayan Riviera and have lots of information on many of the resorts. Let me know if  you have any questions about a particular one and maybe I can help you out and send you images.

Best of luck with all your planning

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
