Thanks for the review.  Its always great to hear from someone that got married there.  We are thinking of doing the Jamaican Buffet since we have 51 people going. Is anyone's wedding around March 1, 2013?

We are getting married March, 8th.  We will arrive on the 5th.  You must be so excited.  Have you been contacted by the WC yet?  I can't get them to respond to me.

Dont worry happyfamily, They may not have responded to you yet because your wedding is so far away. They literally will not finalize/plan your wedding until you actually get to Jamaica. As long as your date is reserved and your dinner reservation (which restaurant) you want is in place you should be okay... everything else gets done what seems like very last minute for us... but on time for them.

I think the only other thing we reserved in advance was the dinner menu 1 month in advance and the steel drum band and zurielamaka show.. which we reserved 2 weeks before we left.

The airbrush makeup was well worth it!!!

Will the airbrush last in the heat?  My wedding is at 4pm but there will be a lot of dancing at the reception and I don't want my makeup to look weird.

IMPORTANT READ: For anyone having doubts about having your wedding at GPLH, STOP DOUBTING AND JUST DO IT!! :-)  I just had my wedding here on 12/8/12 and it was wonderful.  Everytime I think about it, I start smiling.  We had over 50 guests and had SO MUCH FUN.  Our guests ranged from 3 years old to 85 years old and everyone had a great time.  So many guests have told me that this was the best vacation, let alone wedding, they had ever been to.  We would definitely return to this resort.  Excellent choice for a wedding, especially for a larger wedding party like ours.  See my review here.

What did you do for centerpieces? We are having our reception at the Poseidon because we saw the threads on here complaining about the noise from the band upstairs and my guests love to dance hence we are getting a DJ. I know they move the flowers to the reception, was that enough? We are getting the waves of love package. I figure even if someone had there reception at the blue lagoon, they may have though about centerpieces too? Thanks

YES!!!! Normal makeup will sweat off and run down your face... with airbrush you dont even feel like you're wearing anything at all.. its so lightweight and it lasted ALLLL day and ALLL night. My ceremony was at 2pm and dinner was at 6pm ... it was blistering hot and i had a heavy dress on but my makeup stayed all day and night.

Having said that.... my eye makeup/eyeshadow did melt off a little so i re-touched that up between the ceremony and reception with my own makeup .... and you could bring a powder ...my face did get a BIT ... llike a little bit shiny right at the end of the night..after all the dancing. Just a quick dusting of powder would help keep it matte ... but i didnt do that.

I literally had to scrub my face for 20 mins to get the makeup off... and I was still scrubbing it off the next morning.

  • 2 weeks later...

Is it true that they guys have to wear pants to the dinner restaurants or can they wear nice dress shorts?  We are going to be there for about 2 weeks and want to try all the places I'm just trying to figure out what to all pack and don't want to be overloaded.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
