Hello,

We have finally set our date....10.12.12 at the Veranda in the Turks....SO excited!

I would love to hear what people are doing for music.  i've emailed a couple of people and they are not very quick to respond. Does anyone have good band recommendations?

Thank you!

I was originally looking at Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana and now have changed directions.  T+C is amazingly beautiful and have contacted some resorts.  Anyone care to share the group rates that they are receiving along with the dates and how many people so I can get an idea of how much my guests are going to be looking to pay?  I am looking at approximately 35 guests and I really don't want them spending more than $200-$250/couple/night, although the ME was under $300 for 2 people, all inclusive, and none of the all inclusive resorts on T+C are remotely affordable.  We're looking at Thanksgiving weekend 2013, but any rates and dates would be helpful to give me an idea!  Thank you!

I am new to this website and for some reason I can't start a new thread??

I am very newly engaged and we are planning our wedding for the summer of 2013 in Turks and Caicos; probably July or August. I have been looking around online trying to find more budget friendly accommodations for my guests and found the Sibonne. It has really great reviews and I'm now considering staying there as well and having the wedding on the beach there. Does anyone have any experience with the Sibonne? The reviews I'm finding online are all great, including some couples that have had their weddings there.

I'm also wondering about activities for my guests. I would be happy sitting on a beach for two weeks doing nothing at all, but I do have at least one very well traveled couple coming and they enjoy seeing the culture of their destinations. Can anyone offer some advice as to activities for them other than the usual Catamaran, etc?

We are thinking of spending our second week on Grand Turk as there seems to be some really neat stuff there too.

Thanks for any and all advice :)

We don't have a "lot" of local culture but we do have some things to do other than just lay on the beach.  Some ideas:   A day trip to North and Middle Caicos, you can arrange a day trip to take the ferry over, check out Wade's Green a post revolutionary war plantation (mainly ruins but pretty cool), head over to Middle Caicos and take a tour through the caves or just spend a day at Mudjin Harbor...breathtaking views and beach.  Check out Big Blue eco tours, we love their kayak tours: they take you to areas you can only get to by kayak and really show you a great day.  We love going on Atabeyra: a hand built sailing schooner, gorgeous boat and David and his crew do a great sunset tour at a great price (if you are here right after a full moon, definitely do the glow worm cruise...very cool!).   Most of our activities focus on the water: deep sea fishing, bone fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, paddle boarding, kite boarding.   The Conch farm is a quick and easy tour and not something you'll find anywhere else.   Hope that helps with suggestions.

A week in Grand Turk might be a bit long, maybe plan 2-3 days and come back or add a few days over to Salt Cay...very historical.   You can also look into staying in Middle Caicos or North...very different islands than Provo and a ferry ride away vs plane ride.   I would love to stay at the Middle Caicos blue horizons resort...AMAZING VIEWS!

you can look on www.turksandcaicosreservations.tc where they list all of our hotels/condos/villas in one place with rates etc to compare...it's a great site that I send all my friends to when they want to come and visit (and aren't staying with me)

hope that helps

As for bands, I like Bowen Arrow, they played at a recent wedding and had everyone really dancing (they also won the island's battle of the bands last year, this year's battle is this Saturday).  There is also another new band on island I just saw at a Gansevoort wedding in May who really got the crowd moving as well, I'll check on their name...they had changed it and were just working together but the lead singer is a big participant in our island arts foundation and has a great voice.   It is wedding season right now and everyone is slammed busy as well as band members have day jobs.  If you haven't heard back in a few days from someone, definitely re send the email, we have a lot of problems on emails here and it may also have gone into a spam filter.  No one I know is upset because someone tried again to get them!  Definitely resend!

A good place to look to get lots of ideas for locations is www.turksandcaicosreservations.tc .  They work with all of the hotels/condos/villas on Provo and will have the resorts specials as well as some of their own (and have rates for dates as well).   We are a much higher priced destination than Mexico, but check out Sibonee &  Villa Del Mar; Comfort Suites can have a good room rates as well.   Ocean Club Resorts and Royal West Indies may be an option.   Thanksgiving week is one of the higher priced times here so be aware that coming that week will add $$ onto the rates.

Hope that helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
