Newbie Question: High Season at Dominican Republic Resorts?

Recommended Posts

Happy New Year Everyone!! I hope 2012 will be a great year for all of us!

I was hoping you ladies could help me with a few questions, but here's a little back story:

My finacee and I are considering moving up our wedding date from Nov 2013 to April 2013 due to my recent promotion woot.gif.  I'm really excited about the change but before we commit to it, I would like to know whether April is considered high tourism season in Dominican Repubic. When we first visited our reosrt choice, Dreams La Romana, it was in August and we loved that the resort wasn't full to capacity. The beach wasn't crowded, the restaurants were almost always empty, and we could always get a lounge chair by the pool.

So my questions are:

Is April is a popular month for travel in DR?

For all the future April brides, are you concerned about this?

For all the brides that married during the "high season", did the "high traffic" create any problems for you and your guest?

Thanks in advance!

My MOH got married at the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana last May. While it was busy, it wasn't too bad. We didn't have to wait for restaurants, always found a good spot at the pool or beach. I heard that from Spring Break - Easter is fairly busy.

Thanks Emives!

I'm thinking about calling or emailing the resort to inquire about their avg occupancy in April. Hoping someone responds, we shall see.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
