  • 4 weeks later...

Thank you JayKay so much for posting this.

Our destination is similar (Jamaica) and our dates as well. So your timeline is most definitely helping, and so far I'm on track.

No more procrastination allowed. (I was procrastinating on the Save the Date, been wanting to send them before Christmas like November...but they were given at Christmas, mailed out in February, and emailed to the rest before the end of February).

Our family friend travel agent is now working on getting quotes. Should hear back in a week.

Now the word is out, and it's happening ! I'm hoping to pull it off with a similar budget to yours.

Congrats to you both

Thank you!  Hope your wedding is everything you dreamed of.  And staying under budget was the best thing we could have ever done!  Good luck with your planning!

Congratulations Jaykay! Your planning thread is very helpful!!

My FI and I are from Ontario. We are getting in May and I'm a little concerned about the legal documentation. I doubt either of us still has our long form birth certificates. I asked the WC at our resort but I haven't heard back...is this mandatory or will the short version suffice?

I believe it is resort specific.  Some people that were getting married at the same resort as us were told short form was okay, we were told we needed the long form with our fathers names on it.  I didn't have one either, so we ordered ours online.  We thought it was better to have them then to get all the way there and find out we couldn't be legally married.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
