Hi everyone,

thanks for tall the feedback! We ended up getting quotes for Now Jade and Dreams Cabo that came in under the $2000 mark from Vancouver in November 2012. So we'll be choosing between those two. The other resorts like Dreams Riviera Cancun have just jumped their prices up way too much!

Hi McLecker,

Just wanted to give you a heads up in case your agent didn't tell you but the waters in Cabo are not swimmable as there are very strong undertows.  It is a beautiful destination but many people are unaware of this.  If you're more of a pool person but don't need to get in the water, this is a great place.  However, if there are lots of kids or you happen to like going in the ocean you may want to choose somewhere in the riviera instead.  Just a thought!

Hi Lola2012,

Yes thanks - I'm aware of the beach and honestly that was the biggest (and only) draw back for this area. But when I put up a note on facebook asking if anyone had been to Cabo and if they recommended it - I got overwhelming YES responses. People seemed to love it in spite of the beach/water issue. My FI and I really struggled to that factor, but in the end, the resort looks gorgeous (has great reviews), the weather is supposed to be excellent, Dreams does fabulous weddings, and the price was right. So last night we picked Dreams Cabo! Really appreciate the feedback and insight. Here's hoping we love it as much as we think we will.

I'm concern about Flight + hotel pricing as well. It seems that prices are quite high for traveling to Riviera Maya from Vancouver. My budget for DW vs local wedding is looking rather similar.

How far in advance should we be purchasing the flights? Our wedding is in February and I am looking for the best prices for the guests, I was told buy in September by the wedding planner of the resort?? Or should I be buying sooner??? Seems like prices are very high and there is still a lot of time ahead of us but feb is a high season too!

I have been narrowing down resorts and asking TAs and photographers for quotes just to see how much I need to budget for certain times of the year. I want my budget to be realistic so I tell them my situation and they can generally give you an approx quote. If its just flights then I normally use Skyscanner or Kayak to check approx prices. You still have this year to research on prices. As 2015 approaches then you can see if the prices are good. I don't think there are too many options for direct flight from Vancouver down to Cancun area (if that's where you are heading). I think only Sunwing, Air Transat and WestJet fly direct.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
