I'm getting married in July 2013. I visited the island to scout out resorts and meet a few vendors. The island is amazing! I visited five resorts and narrowed it down to Seven Stars or Somerset. I asked the people that work at them about some of the vendors I heard for weddings. Shenique from Sheque Perfection came up all 5 times. She does cost slightly more than Maximes. I had a trial with Anne from there and was pleased but decided last minute to have a trial with Shenique as well. I decided to book Shenique. Ann is less at cost but her call out fee is $50 which make it comparable. I was more comfortable with Shenique and her work plus she's done a few celebrities and I must say that put me more at ease. She is the only one one that does both hair and makeup and I liked that I don't need two separate people. My hair and makeup, music and food are the three most important things to me on my wedding day.

For DJ I'm going with DJ William. He was recommended by by two of my friends that got married there. I didn't meet him but I heard he works with the top wedding planners on the island.

The food at the Sands and Mango Reef are both really good. They both have high rise beach view decks and the locations are great for rehearsal dinners.

Just got married at the Somerset! We used Quinton Dean for the guitarist, and he was great. Its a really nice touch to have live music for the ceremony and cocktail hour - I would definitely recommend it.

Sidenote - I would definitely recommend the Somerset as a venue. Its absolutely stunning and the food was phenomenal! The cost was comparable to other 5 star hotels, but this was the only hotel where I felt our wedding dinner had some privacy. We had dinner one night at the grace bay club - and we essentially sat 5 feet away from a wedding. Not very intimate!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
