Major dress doubt !!

Recommended Posts

So my wedding is officially 5 months away and for the past few months I have really been having dress doubt. My dress was the 1st thing I bought, literally about 2 months after we got engaged, and that was almost a year ago...I look around at other dresses and see some that I like, but I just don't have anyone to take with me to go see other dresses right now. My best friend, who is my MOH lives in another state....I'm also worried cause my FI's mother bought my dress and I don't want to hurt her feelings if I decide to take it back. And then you have the problem of, will the dress store take it back?? All these things are going through my head and the wedding is fast approaching. Don't get me wrong, my dress is gorgeous! Flowy chiffon, beautiful beading that will glimmer in the sun on the beach...but it's just not what I pictured myself in on my wedding day. Girls what should I do? Should I go try on other dresses? Or just stick with mine and realize later that this might just be wedding jitters??

HELP!

ugh the dreaded 2nd dress option... to be honest, even tho i loved my dress, once i found it had a REALLY hard time not looking or trying on anymore! it was nothing like what i pictured myself in at all, but the style i loved in my head was not right on my body. in the end, im really glad i stuck with what i chose.

now that im 3+ years away from the wedding tho i cant say i havent found a NEW dream dress, hmmmm maybe for a vow renewal? oops!

BeachBride,

You have to go try on more dresses!

I was in the exact same predicament, always looking at other dresses, envying those that had found the "one"! I went out with my sister (who I am not that close to) found 3 different dresses that I loved at different stores and then at the last one, I found "it". You will know when it is the dress you are supposed to get married in. Even if you don't have anyone to go with, you still need to go try more on.

This is just my opinion, and you can always sell the dress on ebay or craigs list if the store won't take it back.

I think that most brides go through this. I bought my dress a year ago and am five months out from my wedding as well. I found myself very unhappy with my dress. I tried on others and it really confirmed the fact that I bought the wrong dress initially. But for some people, trying on more dresses confirms that the one you already have is the right one. Either way, you need to feel wonderful in your wedding dress. It needs to be the right one for you. I'm sure your family will understand if you change your mind. Mine did.

But, I know that in most cases, bridal shops don't accept returns.

Good Luck!

I am also having the same feelings. I bought a dress at Priscilla of Boston when they were going out of buisness.  I really went just to look but one dress caught my eye as soon as I walked in and I loved it when I tried it on.  But I am 1 yr and almost 4 months out and I can't stop looking at other dresses.  I feel like I didn't try enough dresses on but because I didn't have the option of looking around and coming back for this dress I bought it.  Now I am really torn on what to do.

Tough call.  I got my dress late into the process so there was no time to find another dream dress.  If it isn't what you pictured yourself in on your wedding day, but you love it, so what?  Don't let that stop you!  What we have always pictured and what we feel now are often different. But if you really aren't happy with it there is no harm in looking around.

i know exactly what you mean, i am neurotic! i found "the one" about 2 stores and 6 dresses into my shopping with my mom. i put it on and she cried and told me this was my dress, but i wasnt ready to settle yet! so i went out and spent the next 2 months, with my exceptionally patient mother (who kept her opinion quiet the WHOLE time), going to stores all over southern ontario, even heading down to the states to look. over 20 stores and probably more than 100 dresses later i ended up back in dress #6 lol the one my mom had said was the one from the beginning!

in the end you have to be certain of your choice and be totally happy! i bought my dress almost a year ago now and every time i see the picture of me in the dress i smile because i know its my dress! this is your wedding day, go shopping if you need to. it might just reassure you that you did, in fact, get the right one!  if you have a picture of you in the dress post it for us to see!

good luck :)

Thank you so much ladies!! I can't post pictures yet unfortunately. The biggest problem is I found the dress I really wanted online before I went dress shopping but it ended up being one that you can only buy from overseas. I wasn't able to find anything like it here....very disappointing. Then I started watching EVERY SINGLE Say Yes to the Dress show....and that just kept putting the doubt in my mind...and the nights my fiancé would sit and watch with me he'd point out dresses he liked and that even further made me want to change my dress. I think I'm going to go try more on. Maybe I'll find "the one" or maybe it will confirm that my dress IS "the one"!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
