My DIY Boarding Pass Invitations!!! TONS of pictures!! (emstypes)

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies!!!  First and foremost, I want to say thank you to all the helpful brides on here.  Three months ago, I just started to imagine how I could even do this, and I think I amazed myself.  With the inspiration of many other invitations, and the advice of tons more, I finally finished my own boarding pass invitations.  I downloaded a ton of bride's templates to get a feel for what I wanted.  I tried even starting from scratch with ayleebit's template, but I was stumped.  I'm going to thank the following brides (and I'm sorry if I may have left anyone out) for the opportunity to use their template and mold it the way I wanted: Starfish0512, jb1013, Jamie5280, JoanneIreland, torilynnsmith, and more!!  I'm including a TON of pictures, in hopes that I can pass on some inspiration as well.  First, are the tools I used for cutting... I tried to take pictures all along the way, so I'll let you know some stuff I ended up not using.  I can't tell you how excited I was to be able to post this thread, so hopefully I have included all the information I can think of.  If there's anything you want to know, please ask!!!  Well... here goes...

As you can see, my kitten was quite helpful in this process!  Haha.  I used a Fiskars rotary trimmer board,
"F" series.  I got a perforated blade to use with it also (ended up returning the one in the picture by Recollections).  The corners punch was a life saver, made my edges perfectly round!  I ended up using regular scissors to trim out the "v" section of the boarding pass, much easier than trying to use the X-acto knife.  On the right, I got the Martha Stewart starfish punch, as well as a marker tipped glue pen, both for the ticket jacket.

My Cost Breakdown:

Fiskar's Rotary Trimmer/Michaels - $38.99, 30% & 20% = Final: $22.40

Fiskar's Perforated Blade "F" Series/Michaels - $7.99
M Stewart Starfish Punch/Michaels - Clearance Price = $9.09
M Stewart FineTip Glue Pen/Michaels - $2.99 - 50% coupon = $1.49
Corners Corner Round Punch/Michaels - $7.99 - 20% coupon = $6.39

Ok... here's the invitations!!!!  Below all the invitation pictures are the details on the fonts, papers,
envelopes, etc.

Ok so for all the details!!!

Paper & Other Products:

Boarding Passes - Crystal Metallic Cardstock, $7.25/pack of 25,  www.cardsandpockets.com

Ticket Jacket - Azalea Metallic Cardstock, $7.25/pack of 25,  www.cardsandpockets.com

RSVP Envelope - Black - Size 4 Bar, $7.99/50,  www.paperandmore.com

Outer Envelope - Silver Metallic - Size #10, $10.99/50,  www.paperandmore.com

Star Brad (holding 4 passes together) - $1.39/50, Joann Fabrics

Ribbon (black & silver) - $0.50/spool, Michaels

**By the way, I ended up putting another line of perforation on the RSVP card.  After everything, the RSVP envelopes were just not wide enough.  Instead of making my guests have to trim some off (or worse, fold it!) to send it back, I made the second line of perforation just off the right edge of the silver starfish.  I thought it would look weird, but it really doesn't at all.  So those of you using this idea with that RSVP sized envelope, move your perforation over!  cheesy.gif

Fonts on the Invitation:

- {skinny} jeans solid

- Felix Titling

- Jellyka Delicious Cake

***I got my invitations printed at FedEx Office... word to the wise!!!  If you get them printed there and you use special fonts, save it as a PDF file, other wise they will not print the way you see it.  I credit amybermuda for this fact, because I would have wasted a ton of paper without that tip!  Also, the metallic cardstock I used had to be fed basically one sheet at a time - a couple pages were ruined because the printer would jam or try to pull through two pieces at a time because they were so thick.  So maybe warn them they need to go one at a time, if they're patient enough!

As promised, here are my templates!!  Since I had so many versions and edits, my final invitation version is 2 pages, the RSVP card ended up being first with the other 3 passes on the second page.  I kept my ticket jacket plain and simple, but I did print the ticket jacket template out on my metallic pink cardstock - it was a VERY light tracing, but it really helped me when it came to scoring and trimming.  I included both the Word version of the template for those who what to customize, as well as the PDF version ready to go if you just want to do it the way I did.

Just a reminder again, I downloaded the fonts from www.dafont.com and these were the ones I used:

- {skinny} jeans solid

- Felix Titling

- Jellyka Delicious Cake

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
