Large Guest Count

Recommended Posts

Hey all!! I have a quick question - were there any brides or grooms with a large number of guests attending ie, 100+? I'm looking into packages, and because all of them are quoted for relatively small groups, less then 25, I find it difficult to find a package that is within my budget. Where are you holding your wedding ceremony and reception? Love to hear from you all!

Well I don't have 100 guest coming but close to it!

Ceremony will be at the resort, but very simple.

We chose to do a Catamran Cocktail party instead of a dinner.

The cost of the catamaran, transportation to the dock and upgraded menu worked out to about $48/person. so not bad at all, plus it's something different.

We used Island Routes and they were fabulous to work with! Hopefully it all works out when we are down there!

A catamaran cruise is a great idea!

You can also looking into renting a private villa.  The wedding party could stay at the villa and your guests would find other hotels nearby (or nearby villas to share).  With this option everything could be hosted on your property.  I looked into this originally and I thought it would be more expensive, but I think it is actually more economical to do it this way if you have a large number of guests.

i dont have 100, but i have 75 people joining us! we are doing our wedding at the gran bahia principe punta cana in the dominican republic. the ceremony cost is usually $400 for up to 25 people, and then $25 a person additional! this was a craaaaazy price because for the extra 50 people we have coming would be $1250 (plus the $400 original cost) so our ceremony alone would have been $1650. but the resort decided to waive the cost for the extra guests for the ceremony! so we are having a private dinner in one of the restaurants, its $2500 set price for up to 120 people. its a three course meal and they have quite a few menus to choose from. what will cost A LOT extra is if we do an open bar for after dinner/reception time. that is $40 a person for 3 hours of open bar (absolutely nuts for an all inclusive). so we've decided to not do that see what we can work out. but its up to you! so there are affordable places to go for large groups! good luck with your search :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
