This is the one thing that we did not check out this past June was the spa - has anybody heard anything about it? In our "package" we both are to get massages, and then I get something else, but I can't remember what.

Hey RIU Brides,

If any of you are thinking of using the Spa located in the RIU, I found out a little information for you.

Here's part of an email that I received today, along with some pricing sheets.

*************************************

The services take place at the salon inside the spa.

You can make the reservations for the services included in your package online as well.

Please take advantage of our internet offer: for any reservations you make via email with me, you will receive a 5% discount.

Since we have a very busy spa , I highly recommend you to make your reservations as soon as possible.

Please, have in mind that we can only make 2 salon services ( hairstyle - make up) at the same time, so we may have to make several groups.

The hairstyle prices will vary within the listed range, depending on its complexity and your hair lenght and type.

The final price will be decided on site and for reservation purposes, we will take an average price.

In order to make your online reservations, I will need following information:

- full name/s of the participant/s

- exact service/s you wish to reserve

- date and time for the appointments

Once I receive this information, I will send you a Paypal Money Request for a 50% downpayment and upon payment notification, I will issue a voucher and send it to you as a confirmation of your appointments.

***********************************************

As always, this information may change, I would check with them first. The person that responded to my email is Paula. - paula.casas@renovaspa.com

  • 5 months later...

I went on a site visit to the Riu Palace Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen 2 weeks ago and made sure to make an appointment at the spa to check it out. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with what I found sad.gif I just got a regular manicure and pedicure (of course, when it was time to pay, they called it a spa manicure and pedicure) and it cost $80 + tip! Not only was it expensive, but the room that I had it done in was tiny with no windows, music or special massage chairs (like all the salons have now). The woman was VERY nice, but she took a long time (I was there for well over an hour) and it really wasn't that good. I was thinking of doing a spa day with my bridal party the day before the wedding and I don't know how you could fit more than 2 people in that room!

HOWEVER, there is hope! Although you cannot go to other Riu's spas (each Riu has it's own spa and you can only go to the one of the hotel your are staying at...I don't know why they have this rule) there is a FABULOUS spa right across the street from the Riu Palace Riviera Maya that is open to the public. It's called the Playacar Spa & Gold Club so I figure the boys can go golfing while the girls enjoy the spa! They have a whole list of services and a pedi/mani is @ $50. This is definitely where I'm taking my girls instead!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
