KKS' Planning Thread

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies,

So I tried to find a blog but was unsuccessful. I'm not really that organized but I'm better with doing things as I go so I think this would be good for me to have a place to chit chat, vent and celebrate.

Where to start...

My FI and I met in college our sophomore year in 2000 but we didn't actually get to know each other until 2007. We would see each other in our social circle, chit-chat here and there but never anything serious. He would give compliments and I would take them. Around that time, I was a serial dater and not open to a relationship. One day, we were at the same event (me volunteering, him attending) and he says that he became infatuated with me from that day. He asked me out, I thought he wanted to network so I told him he could hang out with me and my girls. He cancelled, because something came up and then tried again.. I finally got the hint that he was TRYING to date me and I agreed to the date and it was the best last first date, ever! I got all my " I don't do" I don't like" and he answered all my questions and then asked so when is the next time you're free? Fast forward 3 years later he asked me to marry him while we were celebrating our dating anniversary at a winery during a private dinner.

We kinda "sat" in being engaged for a little before making the formal announcement. We announced our engagement on New Year's Day of 2011. http://animoto.com/play/bKKahGER6gb6xLCN01yjpA

Tried doing the wedding planner, expensive dress, nice city wedding but it wasn't our reality. My FI joked about going out of the country and I agreed. He's learning that I make hair brain schemes a reality. We did some research and decided on a cruise wedding and I found this site.

So far we have:

Taken our Engagement photo shoot: I absolutely enjoyed our photographer

We sent out our STD in August.

Found my dress at Running of the Brides (just realized it was a convertible dress!) and have decided on the bridesmaides' dress. I'll be back with pics.

Thank you, Ladies. I finally have a wedding date twin!!!! Thanks so much and same to you!

So, since we decided on a destination wedding I decreased the brides maids from 6 to 3.  I was trying to figure out a way to invite my brides maids. I was going to get them custom made cards by one of my friends. They were $10 but then I happened upon these really nice envelops. I purchased a drawing pad that gave the aged paper feel/look and some scrapbook stickers of beach scenery and flowers with some heartfelt words. I think all together is came out to be about $12 for all the supplies. photo 1.JPG photo 2.JPGphoto 3.JPG

I wanted to do Running of the Brides earlier in the year but didn't have enough time to plan it. I found out that it was happening in October. I purchased shirts and then did screen printing and added some bling bling. The finished products come out to $2.50 per shirt. I purchased headbands and mardigras beads. That was an addition $2.

  • 2 weeks later...

My FI and I are purchasing the clothes for our attendants. My bridesmaid and I went on a lovely excursion to David's Bridal and Alfred Angelo. We went to David's first. The experience was nice and my girls liked two of the dresses. They tried these two dresses on and said they felt like the fairy witches from Sleeping Beauty.

We went to the Alfred Angello and the experience was the worst. The customer service was horrible, their select was not that great, Things were falling apart and my girls were somewhat deflated by the experience. I'm so happy we went to David's first.

I decided to go with the red dress but my will be in turquoise. I purchased them yesterday and informed my Bridesmaids that this is one of their gifts from us.

Thank you ladies! I just realized that I have 5 months to go.  This time last year I was trying to figure out how to announce our big news. Time sure does fly!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
