Hi all,

I'm sure you've heard it before, but planning a wedding in st. thomas on a budget makes me want to throw in the towel.  I'm hoping if i can tell ya'll what i'm looking for then you could offer some suggestions...

I'd like to stay in a villa, have the ceremony and reception there.  We only want to use the villa for 3-4 days (trying to save $), I need the villa to be ok with some noise (like a DJ & my rowdy irish family!)  I know its crazy low, but i'm trying to get the villa for less that $4000 for all those days.  does anyone have any suggestions?  We would like to have the wedding in july 2012.

I would also like the villa to be close to a hotel so that i can send my guests home :)

i've checked the hotel packages (bolongo, marriot etc), and ceremony sites (villa botanica etc), and feel completely disillusioned that this wedding can happen :(  any and ALL suggestions welcome-thank you ladies!!

Have you checked on the Vacation Rental By Owners website? The web address is vrbo.com. I'm not sure how many rentals they have listed for St. Thomas but I'd check because I know in some locations they have villas listed as well. I think there's also a website called Home Away (homeaway.com). Another thought - maybe you can have everyone stay at the villa and then you and your hubby can go away to a hotel after the wedding. :)

Good luck and happy planning!

Great idea-I'm planning the same and was so happy to see someone NOT planning a wedding at an all-inclusive resort. I would suggest finding a local travel agent who can send you websites of villa rentals. The island I'm traveling to has tons of vacation rentals, most of them are are around $400 a night for 3-4 bedrooms. Great deal if you ask me, especially if several adults stay in the same house and share the cost. I'm sure you'll find something but I would definitely contact a local person. Many rental places may not even have a website but will send you photos and info if you contact them. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
