Hi AllieH - it's going great. Although we hit two road blocks in the beginning of the year as far as booking the place and the wedding coordinator, that will be on another post :D.

Well ladies, I'm at almost 7 months, and decided to sort through my wedding pile and the list of things yet to do.

I have:

-chair sashes

-striped straws

-orange basket (for our guestbook/mad lib collection)

-various shells and starfish from other BDW brides

-my dress, shoes, and longline bra

-wedding night lingerie (woot!)

-base of our invites and envelopes

-monogram postcards

-return address labels

-inserts for key holders

-orange & white twine for various crafts + invite ties

-materials to make my veil

-starfish & shell stamps for our place cards

-wooden starfish & shells to be painted and put on our table

-our photographer is booked

-our registries are done (Macy's & Crate & Barrel)

I have ordered (but haven't received):

-my sash & hair flower

-lanyards & pouches for key holders

We still need:

-rest of materials for invites, including enclosures (menu/rsvp choice and registry)

-his attire (he's in charge of this...I have washed my hands of it!)

-favors, if any (I'm thinking about doing wind chimes for our families, which will hang on the chuppa, and ornaments for everyone else)

-need to order my bouquet and his boutonniere, decide if we're doing corsages/bouts for the families

-paper lanterns for aisle decoration & Tucanes decorations

-other small items for the welcome bag (lip balm? playing cards? maybe pashminas for the ladies,I need to hit dollar tree)

-travel mugs for the welcome bag

-book our airfare (minor detail, right??)

-consider booking a TTD (my own photog will leave the day after the wedding..so we'd need a mexico-based photog for cheap)

-parasols for decorations/photos - I would love to have enough of these for all of our guests for shade, but I am not hauling them down to Mexico!

-welcome bags

-confirmation from Natalia/EDR on our locations (I've now sent 2 emails, and if I don't hear back in a day or two I'm going to set my TA on them...)

-finalize our menu choices (so we can put them on the RSVP, wedding website, etc)

-figure out what the heck to do about centerpieces. I think I'm just going to rent clear vases from EDR and put in colored stones or flowers.

I need to make:

-my veil

-labels for the straws (mini-banners)

-assemble the invites once I get the pieces

-place cards (once we have the RSVP/menu selections back)

-table #'s

-programs

-thank you banner (for our photog, will then make a thank you notecard)

-wedding weekend events timeline

-need to paint the wooden shells & starfish

-playlists of music for ceremony (he's in charge of playlist for dinner & receptions

I'm waiting until final payment to buy stuff for the welcome bag; I don't want to buy 50 bags and have 20 people bail out at the last minute.

What am I missing??

Is anyone else as OCD as I am with my lists? LOL

Yikes! looking at your list i started freaking myself out. btw where did you get the wooden starfish and shell? i'm looking at other options for table decoration. flowers in JA are way too expensive for my budget.

Agreed. I'm trying to go green with my wedding, so we will have no flowers at all (except maybe one for my hair). 7 months to go and it seams I should be more put togeather than this!! Eeek!

nooo no sorry ladies I didn't mean to freak you guys out with my OCD lists. I'm trying to get as much done as I can now because my busy season will be June - October for work. So I won't have as much time to work on the planning.

I did forget to add the whole "write ceremony" to that list - another key item...

ohh my- I may have a panic attack! eeek!

I found the wooden Starfish & shells at Michael's in the dollar bins by the check out a couple of weekends ago. they had a ton of beachy-themed stuff. do you have one near you?? I can try to take pics of them for you tomorrow when the lighting is better. they are good sized - as big as the palm of my hand.

  • 2 weeks later...

Good! Working on finding a good, reasonable florist right now.  I just ordered the necklaces for my bridesmaids this week! I just got my raffia and starfish to make the aisle decorations for the ceremony.

Just patientely waiting for Frontier to post the flights to Cancun for our charter flight- I'm hoping they are not crazy expensive with gas prices being so high right now!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
