November 2012 Brides?

Not to go off on a tangent, but I've always thought the "first look" concept is kinda strange b/c I  feel like the first time the groom should see the bride is when she appears in the distance and walks down the aisle. THere's so much anticipation about it with the music and other family members and bridal party coming down before that!!! Myabe it's b/c I have this perspective as a wedding guest and it's MY first time seeing the bride all done up. But, I guess w/having to take pictures before the ceremony, that idea doesn't work out :P

Having said that, we haven't discussed the first look but I would like to do it. We're almost finalized w/the photographer.

He's coming at 2pm, taking the last of the getting ready shots until 2:30 (and I will have friends take the other getting ready shots - good idea!)

Family Photo shoot 2:30-3:00
B&G Photo shoot 3-4:15
Ceremony 4:30-5
Cocktail hour 5-6

Reception 6-10, but photog leaves at 9pm, so we will just pay for the extra hour .... since there will probably be more toasts and videos and cake cutting right up until 9pm. We may reconsider and do the cake cutting at 8 so he only stays till 8.

Good idea! No first look planned... the mere thought of one makes me nervous. I don't even want to walk down the aisle. Can I just materialize at the altar?
Sure, we can genie blink you to the altar! Seriously, it was a bit of a blur.

It was awesome to have time with him before the ceremony. I got all my tears out of the way, And I was much calmer than if I made him wait to see me. The ceremony was still emotional and the first look didn't take anything away from that. FYI, it's dark down here by 5pm. I think my 4pm ceremony was late, should have done 330.

Wow Ladies-

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thought I would be a perfectly calm bride to be before we leave for the big day and have now realized I am starting to feel those anxieties creeping on in....eek!!

SO EXCITED AND NERVOUS...

What does everyone have left to do??

Haha I hear you Julie- I was calm until about Nov 1- and now I'm freaking out- we leave in 10 days and my wedding is 2 weeks from today!! My WC hasn't replied to any of my emails for the past week now and I need answers to work on stuff this weekend!!!!!

This weekend I plan to:

finish my thank you's from my shower

iron on the rest of the bridesmaids tank tops

start packing (figuring out how I'm going to pack 40 maracas is my main concern)

make the aisle decorations

finish music for dinner, recpetion and ceremony

find sand ceremony speech

is anyone adding some sort of reading to their ceremony that they would like to share?!  I want someone else to read it and I need to find something first before I can ask her, lol.

To do:

Finalize seating arrangements

Write guests names into their favors

Decide what to do about menu cards (or incorporate into their favors, which double as escort to table)

Pick up 2nd favor next weekend and attach little cards to them

Figure out how to pack 2 sets of 125 favors

Choose photos for table numbers, edit photos, process at Kinkos

Find table number holders (our resort is actually making us bring them ourselves)

Purchase cake topper

Iron out first dance

Talk to DJ about song list

Talk to wedding officiant

Finalize wedding day itinerary

Choose a location for rehearsal dinner based on WC's answers to my questions

Nail down first dance

Last dress fitting

Then there's a lot of of other items that are somewhat decided but need to be confirmed - but I think we will do all that when we meet in person w/the WC.

We had a reading, not super flowery or fake, pretty realistic about marriage. I can share it with you when I get home. Sucks about your wc!!! Do you have a TA who can make some calls? That just isn't acceptable at all. It's been chilly at night, so bring pants and a hoodie or sweater just on case! I'm so excited for you girls.

Yes, please send me what you have when you get home! :) Thank you!!!

Well my orignial WC is on vacation and now the Onsite one that I will be meeting in 11 days is not responding!! If I don't hear anything by Monday I will be calling my TA and making her call and get a response!! Very frustrating! Luckily all the details are already planned I just have a few questions about minor details- like how many aisles we are having so I know how many aisle decorations to make this weekend..but I'm just going to take a guess and make a couple extra in case some break.  Her tip is depleting as the days increase from her lack of responses!!

I will bring a jacket and a sweater- thanks for the headsup!!

Thank you!! I'm excited to see your pics!! :)

I'm home! (sniff, sniff, I already miss paradise)

Shan, hoping you've heard something from your WC by now.

Here's the reading that my friend did for us:

Marriage means that you have both decided to live the rest of your lives together as husband and wife, promising to face the future together, accepting whatever may lie ahead. Soon you will be declared man and wife, but you will have to decide each day that stretches out before you, that you truly want to be married.

Love makes the burdens lighter, because you divide them. It makes joys more intense because you share them. It makes you stronger so you can reach out and become involved in life in ways you dared not risk alone.

True marriage begins well before the wedding day, and the efforts of marriage continue well beyond the ceremony's end. A brief moment in time and the stroke of the pen are all that is required to create the legal bond of marriage, but it takes a lifetime of love, commitment, and compromise to make marriage durable and everlasting. Today you declare your commitment to each other before family and friends, your yesterdays were the path to this moment, and your journey to a future of togetherness becomes a little clearer with each new day.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
