November 2012 Brides?

Hi and welcome!!

 

I hope your planning has been going well- I'm a fellow Palace bride! I'm getting married at Sun Palace and everything has been a little hetic with the wedding dept changing to Cancun from Miami.

 

 

Planning is going well- you can see from my previous messages I got a lot done last weekend.  This weekend is my friend' bachelorette party- so I won't be doing anything wedding related other than maybe attempting to start addressing my invitation envelopes.

Thanks!  So nice to just chat with other people.  I agree the first part was super hectic with them changing over.  I think I am on my third WC, but I have to say she seems great - so far!  Are any of you going with the Colin Cowie collections or just picking and choosing what you want?

 

I'm also trying to figure out what I can bring down there with me -- are either of you doing this?

 

I have my first bridal shower Saturday - should be fun!

I'm doing the complimentary package.

 

I am bringing down chair sashes and table runners.  And then I have aisle decorations for the ceremony.  Trying to be simple as the view will already be beautiful!!

 

Exciting- how many showers do you have?

 

I have my first one next Sunday.  I'm having 3, lol.  One with my fiances' side of the family, one with my side of the family/friends and then I will most likely have one at work.

I am doing the complimentary package as well!  I have some coral lanterns I want to hang from the chairs in the aisle....

 

Then I was thinking of bringing table runners and napkins that match my colors...and then I have little star fish - from michaels for like $.05 each! - that I want to put on the napkin with a place card.  yes, definitely keeping it simple!  I had looked at the Colin Cowie packages, but thought just what you did...it's already so beautiful there, you don't need a lot!  Were you given a set up fee at all?  I haven't been given one yet.

 

I think I'm also going to rent some lanters and a few other things for the dance area.

 

I'm having 4!  It is spiraling out of control  One with my side of the family....then my mom's friend wanted to throw me one....then one with my fiance's family...and then a friends one.  It'll be a lot, but hopefully fun!

Wow that is a lot- hope you registered for a lot!!!

 

I was quoted $200 for everything to set up when I had my Miami WC, and I haven't mentioned it to my new WC.  I figured I'll have all my emails in case my onsite WC tries to charge me more once I get to Mexico, but until then- I'm not bringing it up unless she says something to me, lol.  At this point I don't care what they say- I'm doing it anyways, haha.

Anyone else having trouble finding flights under $800? Im starting to panic, any help would be great.

to/from which airports?? 

 

I used miles for my flight, and then we bought my FI's ticket. it let us fly 1st class for about $100 more than two coach tickets. so we got lucky in that aspect (or rather, all of my traveling for work paid off...!)

 

Airfare is definitely higher than it was last year (and the year before that...). do you use kayak or airfare watchdog to keep an eye on flight prices? they will send you an email when your routes are on sale.

It's getting pretty bad, I agree....we just booked someone from Chicago, but through Miami (overnight, both ways) for a very reasonable price....direct flights are crazy.
