Excellence Riviera Cancun Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies, is anyone or has anyone shipped stuff to the resort for your wedding? I'm not sure if I should ship my welcome bag contents ahead of time or bring with me. Not sure if customs will give me a hard time.

Thx!

I am not planning on shipping anything.  From what I have read it is quite the hassle and the resort is not responsible for your items.  I am just planning on packing my items and bringing them with me.  Which will reduce the stuff I do for them.

I brought all of my supplies for the Welcome Bags and extra decoration for the reception with me.  I just paid to have an extra bag checked on the way to Mexico.  I think it worked out being less expensive then what it would be if I shipped everything.  I did end up getting the "red light" going through customs when we got into Cancun and they searched all of my bags.  They definitely started to question all of the stuff I had in that suitcase but once I explained I was getting married it was fine.  I would recommend bringing it with you.  I did have papel picado and maracas shipped directly to the resort but that is only b/c they were made in Puerta Vallarta and it was easier to do it that way.  They arrived with no problem.

I just got home from my honeymoon and am getting settled so I promise I will write an extensive review soon!!

I love succulents and wanted to try to incorporate them in my bouquet or centerpieces.  I still haven't decided what I want to do with centerpieces, definitely want to go on the simple side.

@Sabes - just heard back from Jessica who said that including succulents in a bouquet would cost an upgrade fee (from my gold package) of $230-300. They apparently have to be imported, hence the cost. They are beautiful, though.

@@upstatekj thanks for the update!  Unfortunately I don't think succulents are worth that much.  Here they are super inexpensive and I love to use them for events because they look great, without the high price tag.  Thanks for getting the information!

@Sabes - Agreed! What colors are you going with, have you decided?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
