@@kjb0528 Thanks for sharing your pictures, they are lovely.

I think I'm just going to stick with the in house photographer.  As there will be only 4 of us for our wedding, the additional money can be used elsewhere and i'll see if I can come to some arrangement with them for more photographs than the 24 included.  I'm sure they will want to make a bit more money.

Jaime - I just purchased some LED table lights from Ebay which are battery operated.  Some in heart shape and and some in rose shape to go onto our table.

@@KeriT21 I'll have to check her out. If you have narrowed it down to two and can't decide, I'd suggest setting up Skype interviews with them and see who's personality you mesh with better. The more comfortable you are with your photographer, the better pictures they will be able to get out of you.

@@JaimeCKL that wedding dress is gorgeous!! Who is the designer? It reminds me a bit of mine with the fitted top and flowy waist. BTW, I also have Thamara for our wedding coordinator. I'm still waiting to hear back on a quote for a few different flower arrangements and centerpiece options and its been about 3+ weeks. At this rate, its going to take forever to make decisions.

@@lynne1609 yeah I was happy with the photographers for the portrait sessions. For context, the non-wedding prices they quoted us was a 30 min photo shoot (ended up being about 45 mins) around the resort and $500 if we wanted to purchase all the pictures, for $550 they included 7 prints and a small album of 25 images.

I also found a DIY on here to make your own LED lights for the lanterns. I just bought the LEDs and i'm waiting for them to arrive to try it out. Here's the BDW's thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/31160-diy-led-lights-for-paper-lanterns/ and here's the instruction link on Instructables for "LED Throwies": http://www.instructables.com/id/LED-Throwies/?ALLSTEPS

@@kjb0528 Generally what you will find is that your WC will be answering questions to people who are getting married sooner.  It took my WC about 4 weeks to respond to me and as mine is starting to get closer I'm finding I'm getting responses faster.  It does get a little frustrating but you will get a response back soon.  If you feel it's been too long then just send a chase email.  I have Alejandra as my WC and she was the same at first but these girls have brides to see too at the venue as well as answer questions from brides to be like us. x

These are the lights I choose. I only have one table to decorate and they were relatively cheap to purchase and small enough to transport.

@@lynne1609 yeah that's what I figured regarding response times, which is why I haven't bugged too much. I just wish they gave me a better packet of all the information I needed up front rather than having all this back and forth trying to ask for it piecemeal.

Those lights look cool and will be good for the tables. I was thinking of using those DIY for lanterns just to use extra hanging lights. I still haven't figured out centerpieces yet though. I'm expecting around 50 guests so the cost of flowers for centerpieces are really adding up a lot!

@@kjb0528 Thanks! It is a Stella York/Essense of Australia gown. It should be in next week hopefully!

@@lynne1609 Those are awesome! Are you going to hang them? Is your reception at Las Olas? I have yet to see it done for a wedding so I am a little unsure of what I should be looking at.

Has anyone seen or had a reception at Las Olas? Is there room for dancing? We have about 30 ppl total, so I am hopeful for 1 large table.

@@JaimeCKL I'm just going to have them placed on the table around my centre piece. We are having a round table for the 4 of us so there will be plenty of room. I also have personalised bunting to hang up that says MR & MRS ALLEN

Here are some pics of the table set up at Las Olas that my WC sent to me as an example.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
