The mosquito situation is strange. I think it depends on the time of year. We were there the end of August for a week. We had no issues at all for most of the week. Not one single mosquito. My reception was in the Lobster House and nothing.

However the last night we were there we had dinner in the Lobster House and got attacked! Two of our guests stayed a few days after us and it seemed like from that night forward the mosquitoes were horrible. We went prepared for this though so as soon as I put on bug spray it was fine.

I remember someone (or a couple of you) mentioned doing a piñata. What are you putting inside... candy?

I'm trying to think of something fun to do during our welcome party. I was thinking about getting a mariachi band, but that's $1100+. I don't care for cigars (or cigar smoke), so the cigar roller would not work well for us. I just emailed Jessica to see if she has any recommendations. I asked about a tequila tasting or the piñata option. Maybe she'll come back with another idea.

Anyone else have any ideas or know of other options?

Hi JenniferH114

I am getting my piñata made from a Katy canadian who know lives in Mexico. She has a Facebook page called love and lace wedding decor. I know the candy will cost 15 and the piñata is a grey donkey think Winnie the Pooh , which I prefer to the flashy colours and I think the cost is 35?

@@hapykat - Are you sure they are the exact same vases and not a larger set? I have seen some that are much larger than what I'm getting. The biggest one I'm getting is probably only 10 inches high. Not making excuses for the price difference... Just asking. That does seem crazy.

@HenniferH114 yep! I've basically told her the hotel is trying to take advantage of brides but this boards exposes the discrepancies. In addition, she is changing my whole wedding day time line! I'm so angry!!

Yep she said it was a price increase but really it's gouging! I may as well find a way to bring down my own

@@hapykat - I was checking out the facebook page that you mentioned you got the piñata from. She has vases and jars. I wonder if she might have something you can rent.

Thankfully, the vases are the only extra decoration item we are getting from the resort. We are bringing everything else and using what's included in the package. I bought my own chair ribbons for super cheap, burlap table runners, cake decorations, etc.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
