@@Tighev I haven't personally as I'm just taking battery operated table lights but we are only catering for one table. Therefore I don't know how dark it will be.

They are charging 50usd to hang up some bunting so you may need to check with your WP what they will charge and how many lights you will need depending on how many guests you have.

WAIT!   You have to pay for them to hang the decorations that you're bringing?!   My coordinator has not told me anything about that.   Did you ask, or did they give you that information on their own?    I was planning on bringing some little decorations for the table (runner, battery operated tea lights, napkin rings, and menu cards).  I'm also bringing favors (mexican blankets) which I was assuming they would display on a separate "favor table." I got a small banner to hang on the favor table, more battery operated tea lights, and a framed sign.     And lastly, I was going to bring my own string lights.  I had no clue they were going to charge to set up my decorations.  Wow I'm in shock.   Please share the information you received.

I'm kinda annoyed right now. It took my WP 2.5 weeks to respond to my last email. I emailed her some questions earlier today anticipating another 2.5 week wait time for those answers. Meanwhile learning this information just left me with a thousand more questions. And I need to make final decisions because the wedding is in 2 months.

This forum is a blessing!  Everyone is so helpful.

@@Tighev I understood that if its anything that needs to be hung up from theceiling beams then yes, they are charging 50usd for maintenance to sort this out.

I've described the table decorations I'm bringing in an email and this will all be sorted by the WP. I didn't get into any further discussion as the buntings I have arent ones that need to be hung from the ceiling beams so I'll discuss this when I get there. How the decorations are to be arranged is discussed when you arrive.

I put my final decision in almost 2 weeks ago of which my WP has acknowledged and I'm now just waiting for final cost confirmation.

I would just email again like I do asking for a response and update

I sent an email of all questions I had and I received a response back quite quickly.

@@Tighev below is a copy of my question and the response I received.

3. I will bring various table decorations and bunting to be hung up, is this ok? The table tea lights will be battery operated (I will bring the required number of batteries), we can discuss when I arrive how I would like the table decorated

Response from WP

This is great! You can give me the decorations at our meeting. For the bunting there is a fee to hung it up as this will require maintenance assistance. The fee is 50usd..

@@lynne1609   You are wonderful!  Thank you so much for all your help and information.    I'm going to give my WP a few days to respond before I send another email. In the past, it become confusing when I sent a second email before she responded to the first.   I will definitely do what you said and give her a detailed description of the decorations I'm bringing and my idea for a favor table. Hopefully she will provide me with some useful information.

@@Tighev You're welcome. I can become quite frustrating when your only communication route is via email.

I just emailed a list of questions/concerns (I think I had 10 questions) and Alejandra my WP provided me with as much information as possible.

If I can help any further then just post and I'll respond if I know.

Everything is creeping up so fast.

@@Tighev I just asked about having lights hung a couple weeks ago and she confirmed its a $50 fee for them to hang your own lights. I actually think that's pretty fair. I think other resorts charge a LOT more just to put out any decorations. I just ordered a bunch of different string lights from target as they are on sale and I'm going to see which ones I like best.  The key is to make sure you can string together multiple strands. Some of the cheap ones you can only string together 2 or so strands. One girl suggested bringing them down in a cooler and just checking the cooler since the sides are heavy.

Regarding responsiveness, Thamara got back to me a couple weeks ago and mentioned that it is their busiest time of the year and they have barely been in the office for the past few weeks. I guess with up to 3 weddings a day that makes sense so I'm going to try and hold off on any questions I have for her since my wedding is a ways out!

@@kjb0528     Thanks for all your information!   I agree that $50 is reasonable...I was just feeling frustrated because it took so long for her to respond to my last email and many of my questions weren't really answered. I also mentioned that I was going to be bringing some decorations down and Thamara never mentioned anything about fees for hanging things. So I was surprised and got a little nervous that there may have be other things that I wasn't aware of that are important.

When I first booked my wedding, I would gather some questions for like 2 months before I would email her and then send them all at once. But now that it's so close and I need to order things and make decisions, I'm freaking out a little bit.  haha    I thought that as the wedding got closer, she would respond more quickly. But that's not necessarily what's happening.

Hello Everyone. Hope the wedding planning is going smoothly. For any of the brides that are getting married on the beach, are you wearing shoes? If so are you putting 'planks/walkway down or going barefoot?

One question I have for anyone who has already married, for the blood tests do they take blood or is it a thumb prick?  Just curious as I have a H2B terrified of needles....

Hey ladies!

Some of my guest have been asking me about the zika virus... Any of you ladies worried about it? I'm not sure what to tell them!

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
