Excellence Riviera Cancun Brides?

Recommended Posts

I had a hair and make up trial done when I went in November and they did a great job! I was with Angel and he said he'd be the one on the wedding day, but unfortunately I got an e-mail that he left the resort.

I'm just going to meet with the stylist a day or 2 before and bring pictures and talk about it. Trying not to worry about it too much. My 7 bridesmaids and both our mothers are getting both hair and makeup done, so looks like we'll be starting bright and early.

We now have a final number of 86 total people attending the wedding! More than we thought. So happy we have that many family and friends joining us. But I'm sad that we can no longer have the reception at the Lobster House as I loved the atmosphere there (why I chose a Friday night wedding). We just would be way too squished and have no room to dance.

Our only options are the beach, Toscana, and the Foyer.

I really do not want it on the beach as our ceremony is on the beach and we would have to pay the extra money for dance floor and lights. And I do not want it fully inside, so looks like my only option is the Foyer.

Have any previous brides had larger receptions at the Foyer? I'm still worried we'll be a bit crowded and I have heard it can get really hot there since its mostly enclosed.

I'm sure it'll be fine.

Can't believe how fast its coming up- I have about 3 months!

ahhh I know, it's coming so fast. we're t-minus 3 months right now, and I can't believe it!

I think having that many people is the perfect problem to have!! We are at 55 right now, did they tell you how many people you could have at the Lobster house w/dancing? I can't remember.

I hear ya about paying extra for the dance floor on the beach. And with you about not wanting to be fully inside. I've heard lots of great things about the foyer. It looks so pretty in pictures! Although I've also seen really beautiful pictures in Toscana. Remember you'll be outside with your guests for all of the time you'll be with them at the pool/the beach/the bars. So do whatever makes you comfortable and happy. Either will be beautiful. I have heard a few times how hot the Foyer gets though, so if that is a problem you may want a better air circulated area. What about Garibaldi Square? I could have sworn that was an option when I was looking (mine is also on a Friday).

We are doing ours at Oregano's and expecting 50-60 people (but its 11 months away so who knows!). From memory, it seemed larger than the Lobster House although I never ate at Oreganos so not sure. I just checked though and it says that a sit down dinner is 20-70 and with a dance floor it only fits 50 people. Anyone have any experience with a large group at Oreganos and if it was a tight fit? Can they move the tables out of the way after dinner?

Garibaldi Square would make for a horrible setup no matter how many people you have. We originally had our welcome dinner planned there, and I'm so glad we did a site visit and changed it. Not conducive for group gatherings, in my opinion.

Oregano is not THAT large. I don't think you would fit that many comfortably, but who knows. They obviously wouldn't just say that. We had our welcome dinner there, and it was perfect, but we had 30 people.

It's a bummer that Angel left. He did my hair and makeup. He was great! The lady who did the other hair and makeup was awesome, too. I wouldn't be too worried about it. They aren't going to bring in just anyone to work at the salon in a resort of this level.

Just my personal opinions, of course. :)

Hi ladies - I'm new to this site and forum, considering a wedding at ERC for next fall. Can anyone point me in the direction of reception photos at Los Olas or on the beach? I'm considering both spots. Also, has anyone booked the group rates through the hotel? They are suggesting I use a promo code for guests but it only lasts 3-4 months and many people won't book until closer to the date after the code has expired. Thank you!

I am also having a destination wedding coming up soon! I am getting married at the Barcelo Colonial Maya. I do not know about everyone else but finding a photographer was super stressful! I finally found one on another destination wedding forum if anyone is still looking for one! His website is  www.OctavioMontes.com and he has already been so helpful and flexible with what I am envisioning for my wedding pictures! He was the most reasonable priced for the quality of the pictures so I definitely suggest looking into it if you still are needing a photographer! I just wanted to share because I know I had a hard time finding one, so hopefully this helps some of you!

Question for you ladies! For the videographer are you going with the beach wedding studio? And which package did you all select? And they only give one videographer.. I'm guessing they would just come to both rooms?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
