@@mam9p8 Yay! Congratulations. From what I've seen on here, Los Olas made a BEAUTIFUL venue! So happy for you!

@@KeriT21 Welcome!! Isn't it so helpful. Best thing ever... I originally booked with Beach Wedding Studio - the in house photographer but recently switched. Based on the ladies recommendations here, we are now going with Juan Navarro. He is great, and has wonderful reviews as well as was SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper even with the vendor fee you have to pay ERC. Check him out for sure.

As for me, we're down to 80 days! EEEE.. Picked my menu for our welcome party (we are doing apps and drinks so people mingle), and then the menu for our reception. Right now I'm working on gathering the rest of the stragglers that haven't booked yet, and buying things for our welcome bags!

Ladies, are any of you on the wedding packages?  I'm on the Love Package which includes a photographer for 1 hour and 24 pictures so how does this work if you selected Juan to be your photographer?  Is this purchased separate to the package?

Does anyone have Juan's details so I can discuss with him as well?

His email is info@juanphotos.com - definitely check him out.

I have the Gold package and I inquired of this as well. You can either have the photog at ERC do the ceremony and use Juan after, or not use it... it's up to you. It's included so I'm pushing to put that hour somewhere else. However, with the amount I'm saving w/Juan it really isn't bad to even skip their services.

Juan is an outside vendor so it's a completely different thing than what you'd pay the Excellence.

@@victoriasalv those 80 days are going to fly by!!! So exciting!! You have to post pictures when you get back! :)

We have the gold package also, what threw me off was that even if you paid extra to have them do it, you still only get one photographer.... I just sent an email to juan, hopefully he's available!!

I've just emailed Juan also to see what his costs are an option.  I just feel my 1 hour photographer may not be enough time for capturing important memories but most importantly only 24 prints are included and it's around $200 for an additional 12.  That's so mega expensive.

For lights, I've purchased some table lights which run off batteries.  You can also purchase rope lights from Ebay  up 5 mtrs which work out considerably cheaper than hiring them.

I will post pics for sure!!! I can't wait.

Welcome bags - I'm still unsure. I'm trying to make the things easy as possible. So I think the items arnen't going to be that big. the bags are soft canvas so that will be easy. I think i'll pack them once I get to the hotel so it'll eb easier in suitcases. I still need more stuff to fill in it! What are you guys using so far?

@@KeriT21 I've got everything but as there is only 4 of us, it's not as stressful as some of you ladies who have lots of people attending.  I've purchased personalised bunting to be hung up, table lights, table runner and chair bows, table diamantes etc.  I'm going to start looking for my dress 1st week in March so nothing really else to do.  I've sent all my documentation to Alejandra who has verified everything so now roll on July until we fly out.

That sounds great @@lynne1609! We have about 30 people going as of now... Hopefully that doesn't change with that whole Zika Virus thing.

I haven't even started buying stuff for the welcome bags yet, i'm in nursing school so stressed with it at the moment! I was on pinterest, and it seemed a lot of people put little things like sunscreen, bugspray, advil, towels, flip flops...

I found this link they seem like good ideas: http://www.sandnsunhoneymoons.com/packing-oot-welcome-bags-5-must-haves-5-fun-items-include/

We are up to about 72 guests coming to our May 27 wedding. - more than we originally thought! And we are expecting a few more, just waiting for them to book.  We've been planning to have the reception at the Lobster House, but it only holds 75 guests. I saw the location and think it would be very tight with that many guests and not much room to dance.  Any previous brides have similar guest count at the Lobster house and have any input on this?

@victoriasalv - Interesting that you were originally going with Beach Wedding Studio, but then switched.  I have the gold package, but upgraded the in house photography to the 6 hour package with 2 photographers and videographer for $3800. Even with the outside vendor fee you found Juan's packages to be less expensive? Do the packages include similar things?

I think my fiancé and I will each bring an extra suitcase to fit decorations- table numbers, runners, centerpieces, etc. We are not doing welcome bags, but we are doing tumbler cups with cute stickers from Etsy on them that say "Feet it the Sand Drink in my Hand." These take up a lot of room especially since we'll need about 75 or so.  I'm thinking about possibly shipping these. Makes me a bit nervous they'll get there with no problems and not damaged. Any one else planning on shipping anything?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
