Excellence Riviera Cancun Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hey! I have been following this thread for the last week. Thank you so much for all of the great tips and info! We are planning our wedding at ERC November 11th. Sadly the 5pm slot was taken and so we are going to be having the ceremony at 3. I'm wondering a few things.

1. Can I book our stay with an outside booking site like hotels.com? I was worried if I do this, they will not consider the reservation number valid to hold my wedding date.

2. Did you guys choose to have a group contract or are you letting guests book their own stay? I don't feel like the group concessions were worth it considering I am finding the hotel for at least $50 cheaper/night at other sites.

3. Did any of you brides get rain? Im not sure I would mind it but want to come prepared for the possible last minute changes.

I'm sure I will have more questions to come! I am super excited for the day to come. The resort looks perfect in every way

I think you can book with an outside vendor. I highly recommend using a travel agent though. I used Lindsey Johnson with Tropics Travel and she was able to match any rates found elsewhere. She was really great and super helpful! I can give you her email if you want. We also did a group booking with her as well and put down a $100 deposit per room which will be rolled over to our reservation as people book through her. If we don't use all the reserved rooms we can cancel beforehand.

We were at the ERC for a week around Nov 12-20th and it rained about 2 of the 7 days we were there. (Weather report said everyday) It's hard to tell. The days it didn't rain it was gorgeous! I'm getting married in Jan and have been watching the weather reports and its predicting a couple days of rain a week and I'm nervous about it too.

@@HollyB322 - I agree, I think a Travel Agent is the way to go. I'm using my dear friend Lashawn Russell at she's booked all my vacations the last few years and has lots of experience with the Excellence and planning weddings. She works for Funjet - but with her own company - www.travelsolonomore.com

What we did was she set up a block through funjet but we did not have to pay - there will be a set price for your guests and only about 100 dollars to lock in the price. The full amount isn't due until a month before the trip.. Makes it so much easier for YOU then you don't have to worry about anything and she can handle all the guests. That's the last thing you should have to worry about!

As for rain, I'm with you... I'm trying to just push it to the back of my mind. Rain can happy at any time and I'm sure they are prepared. I read a review when they just postponed the ceremony a little bit. I think you will be okay! And whatever happens, your wedding will be beautiful. Congrats on picking ERC! Where is your reception?

Well I have got the joke for the day! we are working with a travel agency that specializes in destination weddings and we have a concierge who acts as the go between with the hotel and us. For center pieces we just wanted something simple with 3 cylinder vases of different sizes with some floating candles. Super simple. I asked how much it was to rent the set of 3 with candles. Guess the price?? $85 a set!! That is $28 a vase!

@@vanessajfelice - I rented three sets of the exact vases you're talking about for $12 a set/$36 total. I chose to deal with the wedding coordinator directly because I don't like dealing with a middleman (in any situation, really). I'm not saying that's why you were quoted so high. I'm just mentioning it because I got things done quickly and efficiently without using a third party to communicate with the hotel.

Yeah, I actually manage a restaurant and have access to all this and we do weddings also, so I know how it works, just thought it would not hurt to find out pricing. I actually planned on purchasing most everything and bringing it doen

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
