Excellence Riviera Cancun Brides?

@@JenniferH114 I emailed Juan to get compared pricing - I saw both you and Sabra's photos on there - stunning! Also, did you do the Gold Package? I'm wondering how it works for the outside vendor as I'm doing Gold and it "includes wedding photos/video"

Also how much was the outside vendor fee? Trying to weigh all my options!

@@victoriasalv - Yes, we did the Gold package. We used the photos that were included in the package for our welcome dinner. I was not impressed... just being honest. The vendor fee was $500.

Are you on Facebook? I have a whole album of the photos on there. It might be easier for you to see them on there. Juan ended up giving us over 900 photos, so it was overwhelming at first. Of course, as you start to go through it's easy to find ones where you think you look funny or something and pull those out, ha! Maybe I can make the album public for today and send you a link? That might work.... not sure, though.

I have a question on group block bookings. Our wedding date is a year out and I really want to reserve a block of rooms for our guests (about 25 rooms), because I'm worried people won't book early enough and it will fill up. I don't know if everyone will be able to go or how long they would like to stay. The problem is that my travel agent said if we do a group block we are locked in now and can't make any changes. So if we don't use all the rooms, even if we give tons of notice, we are still responsible for the full fee. Additionally, if I reserve 7 days and people only want to stay for 3 days, I have to pay the difference. They can't adjust the reservation when they book. Does this sound right? How have other people reserved a block of rooms?

@@kjb0528 - I'm not having any of those issues. I reserved a group block for 4 days but people can stay more or less and we won't lose out on any money. And also- if we do not use all the rooms in the block we just "drop" the rooms 3 months before the wedding date without any penalty. So as long as you have your RSVP date early enough you just drop the unused rooms.

I'm using Wendy from Wright Travel Agency. She's great- she really knows her stuff! She's been to the resort and also gets you certain perks with the room block. I suggest you get in contact with Wright Travel agency- they are also the ones who put together this website!

Hi Kathryn, Thank you so much for the kind words and endorsement!! Yes, there is most certainly something wrong, KJB if you are being told that once booked you may not change dates or release ANY rooms without 100% penalty.

Yikes! No one knows for sure their numbers or guests dates of stay a year into the future!!

Group contracts on rooms for Destination weddings have very clearly spelled out dates by which you may release unneeded rooms or even cancel the group entirely! (Quite typically with more than 120 days notice you may usually cancel everything with no penalty!)

Excellence Group is a bit more strict than some of the other chains pertaining to last minute name changes and such, but not being able to release any rooms that far in the future is quite likely a misunderstanding.

If you would like to contact me, I would be glad to share what the rules on a typical group contract for this resort looks like along with the release by dates.

Unless you are perhaps looking at something like Christmas week which might have much more strict rules pertaining to cancel, I do not think you have the correct information!

My direct email is wendy@wrighttravelagency.com, or you can reach me by filling out the contact me form on the top of the page.

Best regards,

TA Wendy

@@victoriasalv - I made the album public for today, but it won't let me paste a link on here. Can you give me your e-mail address?

Also, Juan had no problems getting in the resort. We didn't even have to meet him. He just showed up at our room. He is very familiar with the property and knew all the places to go.

@TA Wendy and @@kathryn78 thank you both! Turns out it was a misunderstanding. Our TA thought we were asking if we could just book a block of 7-day reservations and if our guests wanted to change the dates to less days or more days and still keep the same rate. I think we are going to go with a few 7-day reservations in case people want to stay a whole week they will still get the benefit of the locked in rate and then have most of our block reservations be 3-day reservations and they can add additional days if wanted but at least will still get the group rate for those 3 days we have reserved. Then, if any of these are not used, we will drop them before the deadline.

I am so glad I found this forum! I read through EVERY page before I posted a reply just to make sure I read everything! We are getting married Sept 22 at ERC. Just got our contract back the other day for our group rates, so guests should be able to start booking on Monday! I cannot wait, once people start booking, it will feel more real. We are working with Weddings by Funjet so they will be our go between with the hotel. Hopefully now that this contract is done, we can start planning the fun stuff, like location, flowers , decor!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
