How did you ladies deal with any food allergies for your reception food and your guest? I know a bunch of my friends are dairy free and some veg/gf.

Did you have something separate or just pick accordingly. (Looking at the food choices)

@victoriasalv-I think they will let you give your guests a couple of choices if you want.  Honestly I just didn't want to deal with that, (knowing I had some allergies and at least one vegetarian guest).  So we just selected a steak and scallop dish (that was amazing!) and noted on the invitations that was the entree and if anyone had any dietary/allergy needs to let us know. It worked out pretty well.  They were easily able to do a vegetarian option for that guest, they just want to have heads up on counts for everything.

Really!?  I wonder if Gloria is still there, I heard she was great too.  I used to work in a hotel doing weddings and its not the easiest job or schedule for sure!

If you ask your guests to RSVP with a menu choice that is the easiest way (I found to do it).

@@victoriasalv - I'm assuming by "left' you mean she's no longer working at ERC?!! That's so sad!! Jessica was seriously incredible. I'm sure they'll get someone else who is great, but she really knew her stuff and took care of things with minimal direction.

Everything will be great... it's just a bummer to hear!

Yeah :( That's what the new girl emailed me to say. That she was no longer worked for the company. Her name is Maribel. She said she's been going through all of Jessica's weddings and has all the information.

Trying not to worry about it. I'm still months away so it could be worse, I could be leaving tomorrow! And I haven't really dug deep into the nitty gritty with Jessica yet. And I know they know what they're doing down there!

Hi ladies! How was the seaweed when you were there? I just had a friend return from her honeymoon and she said how AWFUL it was. The beach smelled, and no one would go in the water, and it looked murky :( Sounds like it's getting worse.

Also I am late to this party but saw they recently added a new coffee bar and the tapas restaurant (new since I was there three years ag0) - where are these? This is me just being nosey.

@victoriasalv-Honestly the seaweed was not good at all.  I was kind of gross in some areas (even though they spend hours every day trying to clean it up).  But, did that ruin the wedding or how much fun we had, NO!  We just spent more time at the pool and I had some guests go in the ocean despite it and I tired it out, but I get freak out with stuff touching my legs that that I can't see underwater.  Our photographer asked if we cared about the seaweed in pictures and I didn't and the pictures looked really cool with the extra texture.  It just wasn't what I was expecting (they said its cause of the currents with El Nino and where the resort is located).

Yes, they have a new coffee bar and tapas restaurant, both were awesome!

@@Sabes44 - well I'm glad it did not affect your time there!! I feel so bad for them I know how hard they must work to keep it as clean as possible. Hope it gets resolved soon. Thanks for the encouraging words. I have time before i'md own there maybe the current will change! haha

Where on property were those two new places? I just can't picture it, back by the Mexican restaurant? I don't even know where there is extra room!

@@victoriasalv - The seaweed is definitely there. We did not often go in the ocean. Did it affect our trip? Not at all. Perhaps more importantly, did it affect our wedding? Absolutely not. Unfortunately, you can't control Mother Nature and that is just one of those things in "her" control. We didn't even think twice about it, though, to be honest. Also, we did not experience any odors from it, even when walking down the beach.

The tapas is next to the Mexican restaurant and the coffee shop is upstairs off the lobby. I definitely recommend both. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
