@@upstatekj - We are getting married May 16th. We booked Juan for six hours. I haven't communicated with him since we sent our deposit last summer. I actually sent him an email last week to "check in" and haven't heard back, so I sent a follow-up email this morning. I'm hoping to hear back soon or else I'm going to get nervous!!! I'm thinking 3:30pm - 9:30pm (ceremony is at 5pm). That time frame will cover all aspects of the day. We plan to do our first look before the ceremony so that we can get some pictures out of the way early. We really want to be able to enjoy as much of the celebration with our guests as possible. We love what we've seen of his work, so I'm planning to just let him do his thing.

I think the TTD sessions look amazing, but we don't have plans to do one right now. I think we are going to skip it. We do plan to visit some cenotes at some point during our trip, though. :)

@@upstatekj thank you! The dress is from dessy, and no I don't really care if the guys are hot bc it's my wedding lol jk but seriously I'm going to try to pick the lightest most summery fabric haha ! I'm having such a big issue matching my decorations with the color of the girls dresses, no one sells celadon green chair sashes! But I love this color is almost a calmer mint green .

@@Sabes44 omg you're getting married 2 days after me, I feel like I have nothing done yet! If you don't mind me asking how much are Juan navarros packages? I don't think I want to use the in house photographer

@@Giocivs88 here is the pricing i got last year from him.  He is only a little bit more than beach studios (plus the $500 outside vendor fee), but I think he is worth the extra fee.  He has been great to deal with, quick to respond and we have exchanged over 30 emails.  it's hard when you can't meet or really talk to vendors so communication via email is extremely important to me!

2 hours US $760

3 hours US $1.110

4 hours US $1.440

5 hours US $1.750

6 hours US $2.040

Extra Hour US $380

@@Sabes44 @@Giocivs88 - I was told he brings an assistant with him.

Just a random tip, but don't forget you have to include your photog and assistant in your head count for the reception meal. I haven't gotten to that detail with Jessica yet. I read that some people were able to negotiate and get those meals included (if you are over your max. package head count) but I haven't asked yet.

@@Sabes44 - I'm going to assume no, which means coughing up $90 for the two of them. We'll see though...

I'm really hoping to negotiate something with Jessica, whether lowering the outside vendor fee, free meals for them or Las Olas lights for free. Something has got to give! I've heard many resorts are worse in terms of charging for every little thing, but lately it seems like we are getting the run around!

We just got married on January 10th at Excellence Riviera Cancun and it was the best experience ever!

I like many of you was a little hesitant because the email responses seemed to be delayed a bit from Jessica and nothing seemed to be very cohesive as far as price and information. I will say though, about a few weeks out she sent me an email with a pdf of everything. We went back and forth a little bit about things butit was organized. When we got down there, she met with us and we got everything taken care of in about 30 minutes.

We got married on the pier and it was absolutely stunning! It was cool to have a different backdrop than the traditional beach setting. We did our recpetion in the oregano room. We actually loved it! We had 49 people at our wedding and it was the perfect location that felt a little enclosed while still being outside and also felt seculded from the rest of the resort. We loved the beautiful dark beams and architecture of the space.

Here is what we paid for as far as extras: We got the gold package so almost everything was included except what we had to pay for the extra guests...

-We paid the $220 for the lights and paper balls. It really ended up making the room and added a beautiful ambiance.

-I also upgraded the bouquets for myself and my bridesmaids because I had something specific in mind.

-I added an extra satin bow on each chair which looking back on now definitely didn't need it.

-I had to pay for a few extra centerpieces because only 2 were included and we ended up having 6 table including the head table. I wish I would have taken a picture of the ones we selected from the gold package because they were gorgeous. We upgraded the head table ones and if I had seen the ones we used for the other tables I wouldn't have paid the extra money. They were actually prettier that the head table orchids we got.

-Jessica used a few of the orchid columns from the head table at the ceremony table so we actually didn't get any flowers for the ceremony. It was more than enough to suffice and the backdrop was so pretty.

-We got rose petals (I believe they were $65) That was so worth it! They made the pictures and added a beautiful pop of color!

-We paid $400 for the sound system and just made our own play list on an ipod. It worked perfect!

As far as photgraphers, we used the in house photographers Beach Wedding Studio. I absolutely loved Ashley! She was very professional...we met with her ahead of time and went over what we liked and didn't like as far as style. We like more creative photgraphy as compared to staged photos and gave her free reign to do what she wanted with the pictures. We were absolutely thrilled when we got them back! She captured the joy of the day and the photos were stunning. It was really windy the day of the wedding but she worked with the elements to create some gorgeous shots! We were so thankful we had her to capture out special day.

II can try to attach some pictures if anyone wants!

Hopefully this info was helpful...I saw all of the reception options in person so if anyone needs any more specific info or suggestions, I would be happy to help. Everyone at our wedding had an amazing time and I would go back to the resort again!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
