That is so exciting! We are not doing welcome bags. We booked an excursion for guests as a Thank you and are just having welcome letters. I didn't know there was a cake option! Which did you pick?

That's really nice! Which excursion did you pick?

I think we are going to choose the tres leches, but they also have vanilla with fruit filling (mango, raspberry or strawberry) that I'm very curious about! You can't try them before you choose though...that's a bummer.

We are doing two excursions actually.  We are taking our guests to Coco Bongo in Playa Del Carmen one night to party it up and we are also taking a day trip later in the week to Xel Ha.

I have heard the Tres Leches cake is amazing!

Enjoy your trip!!!!!

hey girls! wondering what time everyone is having their ceremony / reception at? i have a 5pm ceremony on the beach, and i'm thinking it will only take around 20 mins - does cocktail start immediately after, or do guests have to wait until 6?

I have a 5pm ceremony. Jessica told me the cocktail hour would start at 5:30 and reception at 6:30. So people will not be waiting around.

Hi Ladies! I'm new to BDW, but I have spent the last few days reading through every page of this thread!! Crazy, I know, but it's been such a wealth of information!

We have a 5pm beach ceremony booked on May 16, 2015.

We don't have too many other details ironed out yet - though we did just order our Save the Dates (to be mailed in the next few weeks) and Invites (to be mailed later this year). I look forward to the planning journey over the next 11 months and hope I don't stress myself out too much in the process! :)

I already have some other things in mind, but I know it's too early to lock some things down. We are still waiting to hear back on price quotes from our travel agent, so that we can book our own room and then start publishing the info for others to book... later, when they are ready. Our TA got a group promo code to use for bookings, so I'm curious to see how much that discount will be. (Maybe $50 off each booking??)

Has anyone had experience with receiving any sort of "bonuses" for having a certain number of rooms booked for your group? (I know you can earn the complimentary base wedding package.) For example, a free night for every 5 rooms booked or a complimentary welcome dinner or cocktail hour if you have 15 rooms books? I'm just curious because I know some other resorts offer perks like that. Our guest list is currently at about 80, though we know a number of them will not be able to attend.

Thanks!

Sadly I do not believe that Excellence offers any perks like that.  I think it is worth it anyway.  The price is great for what you get.  This resort is amazing and I am sure that you were able to read all of the great reviews about the weddings people have had here.  That's great about the promo code.  My only suggestion would be to check out the resort website directly before you go through the travel agent.  I was originally going through a TA but then discovered that the resort site offered 30% off for the dates we were going to be there.  It was such a better deal this way.  I only have 30 guests though so you may need a TA to help you organize 80 people.  WOW so exciting!  I bet you can't wait for next year to come.  I felt the same way this time last year!

@@HNeal - Thanks for the reply! The lack of “bonuses” is certainly not going to deter us from going with Excellence. Actually, we have already ordered our Save the Dates and Invites, so I’d say we’re pretty locked in. :) I just wanted to ask since I know of other resorts that do similar things. It would have been nice, but no big deal.

Also, in regards to the TA, I am still shopping around for one, but I absolutely will not go with anyone who does not price match. I make this very clear when I first talk to someone. We travel quite a bit and I put hours upon hours into our “normal” travel ventures, including getting price quotes from a number of different places. I want to have a TA so that guests have a quick and easy option for booking, but they aren’t going to be required to use this person. They could book on Travelocity if they want! (And actually Travelocity tends to have some of the lowest package rates around, especially when you google search for additional promo codes!) Once the commercial airline schedules open up through our dates, it’ll be easier to get an idea of what prices looks like. Prices are sitting kind of high right now but that’s because TAs can only get quotes with charter flights. I’ll definitely keep my eye on ERC’s website though.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
