Excellence Riviera Cancun Brides?

Do you think it'd make sense to bring some of your own makeup, especially foundation if they couldn't get the right shade? And I'll add hairspray to my packing list. Thanks.
I would being your own. As they didn't have water proof. I think you want your makeup to stay put for the whole night so it's good to have waterproof as you will sweat taking pictures and maybe even cry a little. I love Laura mercier. I swear by her tinted moisturizer. I've cried and sweat and even puked with that stuff on and it doesn't even smudge. It's amazing!!! They also have this eye stick (eye shadow) it's also water proof and I've done all of the above in that too and nothing moved. I wore that for my wedding and my makeup looked great even after 5 hours of drinking and dancing.

My fiance and I are getting married November 15th, 2013 at Excellence Cancun!!! We can't wait!!! I have some questions about the hair salon and make up for the day before and of the wedding. I wanted to know if anyone had advice or if I should bring a picture for the hair stylists there. I wonder if its going to be difficult to request certain hair styles. Hmm...Any advice? :)
They can do everything it seemed. My hair looked great except I would have put lots more hairspray in. I think you can save the money and skip the day before practice run. They will do a great job.

We have the Gold package as well so we'll have the ceremony video. I was considering getting them to film some of the reception but maybe not at $320/hr. Good to know, thanks.
Just so you know. The video is very basic. It's just the ceremony. No editing. So don't expect some spectacular videographer thing. It's good for free and it gets the job done as far as recording your ceremony. They get the music and you can hear all of the talking. Something good to show your kids but its not like all of the cool videos you see from your friends on Facebook where they are getting ready and its basically a 5 min video of the whole day. Don't expect that. It's looks a little better than something your friends could video on their camera.

Here ia a video he did at ERC
Just so You know. I looked at his you tube videos today and that is not what you are going to get. Those are edited and videography. The free video with the gold package is just a video of your wedding. It's very very basic. I got married there last month and got my video while I was there. It truly is only the ceremony and no editing is included. It's a slightly better version than what someone would record on their own camera. The only difference is that the camera is steady and they have a good angle as they stand by the minister. Don't be fooled by the videos in you tube. Our video was fine for us as that's all we really wanted but if you are looking for something that's edited and piecing together the day (getting ready, hotel pictures, ceremony, ect) I suggest you hire are videographer.

I'm struggling with the OOT bags as well. I know they're not required but I'd really like to do them. I've picked up some stuff from the dollar store that people will probably use but might forget (mints, eye mask and ear plugs for sleeping in, advil, emergen-c powder for hangovers, wet wipes, razor in case they forget, aloe vera gel, spf chapstick, etc) but when I look at it all together I wonder if it will just look really cheap? I'd still like to get luggage tags, colourful ray ban knock-offs and those waterproof, colourful watches. I've heard of a lot of other people including a mug or bubba keg, but I just don't see it being used at ERC where I hear the service is amazing and you are never without a drink (if you don't want to be). Any suggestions of what else to include?
The cool thing about our cups were that everyone used them and the waiters would fill them up. The were about twice the size iof the cups they provided at the pool and beach so you didn't have to get refills as often. Also with 86 people not everyone knew each other so it was a cool way for people to meet each other. If they were at the pool and saw someone with the cup they knew they were part of the wedding. 400 Also I Made my own bag tags using plastic name badge holders from staples, ribbon, and my printer. I sent them a week prior to the trip. 400 400 As for putting your small items together I used a cellophane bag and stapled a print out folded over the top. It said weekend survival kit. I forgot to take a picture sorry It worked really well and look professional even though I did it. This is not mine but you can get the idea of what I was saying. 400

Sorry to keep blowing up your thread but I really think you should hire an outside photographer. The hotel photographers took some pics for our cocktail hour and they were just Ok. They also were quick to leave and didn't take any of the pics I asked for. It's well worth the money to hire out.

I'd really like to hear about the resort Videographer/photographer too.  I'm using them instead of hiring someone else.  I have a friend that is taking photos too.  The man I've been in contact with seems nice.  Their website is  www.beachweddingstudio.com  Their pics look ok and they are very attentive.  I've read on the Excellence Playa Muerjes thread that they were Blue Lens.  Everyone on theri has nice things to say, which eased my mind a bit.  If you have the gold package the videography of the ceremony is included.  :) Hope this helps.  Mandy

Don't say sorry! All of this info you're giving to us is awesome, this is what we've been hoping for (someone who had their wedding would come back and help us out). It's really good to know about the videographer and on site photographer. No sense getting our hopes up for an edited video of the whole days events. Have you already seen the pictures the hotel photographer took of your cocktail hour? Were they any good?

Good to know about the tumblers for drinks. I'm still going back and forth on whether to get some, so it's good to hear people used them and found them useful (ie: they were bigger than the resort cups). Anyways, if there's anything else you can think of, don't hesitate to throw it on here. You've been such a big help, thanks!

Hi TealMarie,

I talked to Gloria a month before my wedding and she was able to accommodate two entrees so other people can choose.  The only thing is that you have to know beforehand which guests are getting which meal before you get there at the resort.  It was easy enough for me since I had 30 people.  They were also able to accommodate my guest who has a gluten-free diet.  They're pretty much amazing!

Thanks,

Stella

Hi Stella,

Woot! That's great news about the entrees, thanks! We only have 22 guests, so it won't be hard getting people's orders beforehand.

I have too many Ooohs and Aaahs over your photos (your photographer is amazing). Everything looked so lovely. You looked beautiful. I love your dress and your bouquet (yay succulents!). You just look so happy.

Your hair and makeup look awesome and I see you had your hair down which is what I want to do, so I'm glad to see it worked out for you. And it looks like you had one big long table for the reception - fun! We're thinking of doing that.

Thanks for sharing your photos!

Thank you! I really recommend our photographer.  She is amazing!! She stayed at the resort so we didn't have to pay the outside vendor fee of $500.

I was worried about hair and makeup but they really did a great job.  The only thing I used that was mine was lipstick.  I showed him a picture and he took care of everything.  It didn't even feel heavy at all and by the end of the night, I still have makeup!

Honestly ladies, there really is not much to worry about.  The resort is amazing so don't worry about food, drinks or set-up.  Gloria is also very detail oriented that she picks up on what you want as long as you have a vision.  Have fun and enjoy!! We can't wait to go back for our anniversary!

Yes I got the pictures a few day later from the resort photographer. They were basic pictures where couples posed and he took a picture. It's something you could do yourself. He didn't take any candid pictures at all. It was all posed pictures of couples. The pictures were good as they were taken with a good camera but again you could have a cousin take the same pictures. Also he didn't even bother to tell people the "wet floor" sign we behind them or next to them so that's in the pictures. I mean come on your professional you should know better. 400 400 You can see the yellow marker in both. I just think that's ridiculous. Higher out! Also, I won't say who as I don't want to get them in trouble but during my site visit someone who works at the resort told me not to use the hotel photographers as they went very good. That's why I never even bothered with them and just took the free ones for the welcome cocktail hour.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
