Excellence Riviera Cancun Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hey! I was married at the Excellence Riviera Cancun on Nov 2nd, 2012.  I did a lot of searching on this site for ideas and wanted to share my wedding slideshow to see if it helps any of you out.  Elizabeth medina was awesome and I highly recommend her!  Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Ashley,

Oh wow, your pictures are amazing! Did they do your hair and makeup at the spa because you look gorgeous. Every single person at your wedding looks like they had the time of their lives.

Please forgive me if I get annoying but I do have a few questions:

What was the weather like in November?

What time did you have your wedding? I'm just trying to figure out timing for photos (have a 2pm or 4pm ceremony?) but it looks like you guys did a first look.

Where did you have your reception? I've heard some of the venues can be too hot but did you find it different at that time?

Did you get several centerpieces for each table? They look beautiful and it looks like you have a larger arrangement and two smaller ones.

Is there anything you'd do differently or wish you'd known beforehand?

Thank you so much for coming back and helping us out.

Hi Sixer - that's too funny!  5:30pm - what time are you getting married?  What wedding package did you go with?  I am doing the Gold package.  I asked her to e-mail me the flower options etc., and it has a lot of different categories.  It was honestly a little confusing because flowers are included in the gold package - but I'm not sure which ones.  And they list premium options, but it doesn't say what the upgrade cost is for them.  I e-mailed her my questions today so hopefully I will hear back soon. I can't wait!

Hello ladies!

I am getting married at ERC 3/29/13! Hooray! I have had many rounds of emails w/ Gloria and she has been very helpful and usually gets back in touch with me w/in 24 hours.

It seems like the general timeline is "two weeks before" the wedding. She requests that final head count, menu options, floral selections, etc be given to her two weeks prior to the wedding. Which is nice considering we still don't have a firm guest count :-) We are doing the Gold Package and she said bouquets/centerpieces in the "Gold" or "Love" categories are included, and the other centerpieces are available for an extra fee.

Aside from menu and flowers, I think we will decide lots of details (location of happy hour, ceremony setup, accent decorations, etc) when we meet with her after our arrival at ERC.

Happy planning!

Are you just at the beginning stages of planning? I've heard that most WC down there get several hundred emails per week if not more from brides who are trying to pick the resort they'll have their wedding at plus they have up to three weddings per day there. I've recently decided on ERC and Gloria has been really great at responding to all of my emails, although I don't expect answers for a day or two. From what I've read on here, just start asking questions as far in advance as you can and maybe put more than one question in each email so you get more bang for your buck, so to speak.

I also found it really useful to go through this thread as well as the other one on ERC that is 50+ pages long. It answered about 80% of my questions about the resort, the food and the weddings they offered. Feel free to PM me if you have certain questions. I may be able to answer them from what I know already.

Hi KayLynn! I went through destinationweddings.com and it seems they get very quick responses from the resorts and wedding coordinators due to their ongoing relationship with the resort. They held a date for me before (via destinationweddings) before I actually booked the trip. It was confirmed once I put the money down. I do hear back from Gloria fairly promptly for the most part, never more than a few days after an email. Hope you hear from them soon! It's hard to be excited about something like booking and have to wait!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
