Weather is NOT looking good next week!  Sunset Love, we may be in trouble!!!!  Anyone in this forum have to re-arrange their ceremony d/t rain?  Any advise would be helpful!  I'd love to hear about the alternate arrangements (and how to stay mentally insane!!!).  I keep telling myself that I won't be disappointed if it rains, but I think that is easier said than done!  :)

Tropical climates always forecast rain!  Please try not to let this get to you.  Every vacation I have ever went to in Riviera Maya forecasted for rain and it was always beautiful!  It rained super early for 15 minutes and that was it.

Hi Ladies,

I am getting married at ERC in April 2013 and I'm just curious if you have any suggestions for where I should have the ceremony. I have approx 30 guests coming and I would love to have the ceremony on the pier, but from the pictures it looks awfully small for a ceremony. Would the garden gazebo be better equipped to handle more people?  Thanks!

Hi there! We chose the beach gazebo and it was perfect! We only had 18 guests (including the wedding party) but there was plenty of room for more. I'll upload a pic for you rolleyes.gif

I would also recommend the beach gazebo.  I just got married at the resort last Friday, and it was perfect.  We had 20 guests, but as mentioned earlier, there was plenty of room for more.

I visited the ERC first in 2010, and the beach gazebo was in a location that was not very private.  I was pleasantly surprised when we returned for our wedding this year to find the gazebo had been moved to the end of the resort beach... very happy with the location at the resort.  The beach gazebo has two little speakers on the inside upper corners, which was also a pleasant surprise, because the music we picked for our ceremony was projected very well.  It's also right near the Excellence Club suites building, which was great to "hide" around with my Dad until it was time for the music to start playing and me to walk down the aisle!  I'm not sure you'd get my of this "surprise factor" at the pier... but this is just my opinion.

The garden gazebo is beautiful, but it is SMACK in the middle of the resort.  Your ceremony will not be very private.  I also do not think there would be enough room for your chairs under this gazebo (and there would be plenty at the beach).  I might be an odd setup.  The beach also had a great breeze when we got married, so our guests were not hot even though it was 90+ degrees outside... everyone commented how comfortable they were.  Because the beach gazebo is in the center of the resort, it may be more hot.

I also originally wanted my wedding on the pier, but I decided to go with the beach gazebo for a few reasons... the pier is very narrow... I was told that you can only have two chairs on each side of the "aisle"... so you would be going about 8 rows deep.  I thought some of the guests might be uncomfortable sitting in a chair SO close to the edge (there is no railing or anything!), but that was just me being paranoid.  I also heard that the wind can be much stronger on the pier than the beach, and that it can interfere with the microphone being used at the ceremony for your vows.  There is also not as much room for the videographer or your photographer to work with (they can't really "run around" and get different shots".  My final reason for choosing the beach gazebo over the pier was that I wanted to take PICTURES on the pier after our wedding, and that wouldn't work if there was a ceremony on the pier (so selfish, right!?).

Long story short, I'd recommend the beach gazebo.  I couldn't have been more happy with my choice last week! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
