Excellence Riviera Cancun Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

We just signed this week with Ivan Luckie photography!  I am so happy that we got him.  I think his pictures are so amazing:) Before you choose a photpgrapher any other outside vendor check with Excellence to see if they allow them.  Some outside vendors are not allowed on the property.

I was very confused as well!  I just kept on emailing nayeli with all my questions and she got back to me very quickly. She told me that about a week before the wedding, she need certain things like floral arragements and food, once we get down there, we pick everything else. She has sent me choices so I can just start looking and planning now.  I think that is what will happen.  Email gloria and ask her.

You said your wedidng was going to be small-how many people? We have so far booked 12 people (not including me and fiance) and expecting maybe 10 more.

We're using Juan Navarro as our photographer and doing a TTD.  Nayeli said we do not need day passes for Juan and his assistant, we just have to pay the $500 outside vendor fee.  He has been GREAT to communicate with so far.  Very quick with answers to my questions.  Nayeli has sent me some catalogs of flowers (bridal bouquet, centerpieces, hair flowers, etc) and menus for both the Love and Gold packages.  She said flower selections and menus must be decided about 3 weeks before the wedding.  She said this is to ensure the flowers and food are available.

We just booked Derek Campbell last week (Photos in Cancun) and are very excited! I was not thrilled with the $500 outside vendor fee but I didn't really care for the photographer they had on site. Ivan Luckie is great! That is so exciting for you!

I just emailed Gloria to get more info on the wedding. I think it's kind of cool that we don't have to make all of the decisions until almost wedding time. I feel like that would really stress some brides out, but I am pretty laid back. I just feel like it gives me time to focus on my at-home reception for now and get all those details figured out.

We are planning on having about 20 people down for the wedding. It is starting to get frustrating though because we have people saying they are interested in going but no one is ready to book. Now our prices have gone up $300 and people are complaining about the price increase. We keep telling them to put down a deposit to keep the lower prices locked in. Drives me crazy!!!

Are you using someone on-site for hair and makeup or are you thinking about hiring someone for that?

Hi Jill! What is your wedding date? I love that you are doing a TTD...are you wearing your actual dress for that? We want to do a TTD (haven't decided if it's in the budget yet), and I can't decide if I want to wear my actual dress or if I want to buy a cheap one just for that. If we weren't having an at-home reception 2 weeks after our MX Wedding, I could care less about wearing my actual dress - I guess I'm just worried I'll ruin it and not have a dress for our reception LOL

Our wedding is Friday 06/29/12.  Yes, I am wearing my actual dress for the TTD.  We're also doing an AHR a few weeks after our wedding in Mexico, but it is going to be super-casual and I'll probably just buy a more casual, short white dress for that.  I can't see myself wearing my dress again at home AT ALL, so I figured why not destroy it!?!

Yes, I'm planning to use someone on-site for hair and make-up.  We're arriving in Mexico a few days before our wedding, so I was going to see if I could do a "trial run" to see how things look, but not sure.  I actually don't mind doing my own makeup, and I don't want anything too fancy done to my hair anyway!  Been stalking down hairstyles on Pinterest!

OMG me too! I love Pinterest! Sorry, I didn't realize you had already posted your wedding date on the first page of the thread. I don't mind doing my own make-up but I think I'm going to treat myself for the wedding. I don't wear a whole lot of make-up to begin with, so I think it will be cool to let a pro handle it. I want to do it for my girls too but I'm still trying to decide if it will fit in the budget. This wedding is becoming so expensive! LOL

By the way...for all of you ladies not working with Gloria...did your WC tell you how much it would cost to have an outside photographer? Gloria told me it was going to cost $500 but from reading the other thread, people are saying it should only be $150 for the photographer to purchase a day pass. Just curious what you all have been told?

I'm not working with Gloria.  Nayeli told me that it is a $500 flat-fee, and that we do NOT need to purchase additional guest passes for the photographer and his assistant.  (I was thinking there was a $500 outside vendor fee + $150 (each) for the photographer and his assistant's day passes!  I was like WOAH $800 is A LOT!.  $500 is still a lot... but apparently "guest passes" are a non-issue after you pay the $500 outside vendor fee...

I was going to use the spa at the reosrt for hair and makeup.  I am thinking of doing a trial run here at home, taking a lot of pictures and showing them at the resort.  Has anyone heard anything about them? Are they good at hair and makeup? I hope so...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
