Gran Porto Real Bride April 2012!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I just came across this site yesterday and have been reading through a lot of the reviews about the gran porto real. This is so awesome!  We are having our wedding there in april 2012 and I am putting a deposit down today but I'm still unsure of which package I want and cant decide between just a cocktail reception or dinner reception, or both! I already feel like my head is spinning, I don't even know where to start! Unfourtunetly with the days we are there, it works out that we wouldnt be able to get married until thursday which kind of sucks because they charge an additional $400 to have your wedding at 4pm thurs-sun....so im kind of stumped there. Any input, advice or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Lindsay

Congratulations Lindsay and welcome to the forums!

I just shot the Gran Porto Real... great resort and location you will love it! If you do decide on a dinner reception they do have the best beach location. It is right on a point beside the pier and so romantic!
Here is a link to my last wedding at the Gran Porto Real: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150431235844487.376000.18683524486&type=1

Best of luck and let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Lindsey,

I am also getting married at the Gran Porto Real in Playa this coming June

We are doing everthing ala carte until we are sure how many will attend.

Since the resort needs everything to me paid 1 month in advance, I have sent out all invitations and made the RSVP due by March 1st.

Once I get a good idea of how many will attend, I will then chose a package.

Here is what is going on with me so far...

-Beach Wedding on North Beach Saturday, June 2 - I did shell out the extra $400 for the Saturday

-Beach 3 hour reception - not sure about the cocktail hour yet.

-Music - dont know if it will be a DJ or mariachi band.

-Centerpieces - I'm bringing my own. I was not happy with their $60 flowers/per table.

Here is where some of the past and present Gran Porto brides have been posting.

Are you in need of a Travel Agent? I am using Terrah Rominger with Legacy Travel. They are fantastic!

I hope this helps. Let me know how things are going for you.

Hi Julie,

Thanks for posting! I have a bit of a tough time navigating this site! So the link to the gran porto thread was just what I needed! What are you thinking of doing for center pieces? I am going to do my own as well, as theirs are costly and not that special looking. My dilema is that I dont want to bring so much stuff down there with me!

I am also having our ceremony and dinner reception on the north beach. We are going to have a cocktail reception as well I'm pretty sure. Just ironing out all of our final details as I have to send them in by feb.18th! AHHhhh I am starting to feel a little panicky about making decisions and not knowing what it will all be like until we get there. At least on here there are pics and review, so that helps a bit.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
