This has happened a lot with me. But, I'm happy to have the extra guest. I know they are people who really want to go to mexico so I imagine they will be fun to have around. Mostly, it's guests who want to bring a friend or family member with them. It's totally fine with me. They are paying a bunch to fly to mexico, so I feel like they should get to go with whoever they want. It's also fine since I'm not having a private reception, so these extra guests don't cost me anything. Well, I'll make them OOT bags, but that won't be a big expense.

It makes me happy to know that people who would feel no pressure or obligation to come to my wedding want to be there. I know they are probably excited about mexico not the ceremony, but that's still cool.

Hey Shea, when are you leaving for Mexico? My daughter is being married on the same day in Tulum. A bunch of us are going on the 16th on NW Airlines and a bunch of others are going out that same morning on Suncountry. How funny would that be if we were all on the same flight?

Trace and I are leaving on the 14th, and the rest of our group is leaving the 17th. Our entire group is flying SunCountry on the sme flight. Too bad it wasn't the same flight, that would have been fun for the group! We have a really fub bunch coming with us!

Did your daughter ever do her BD pics? I am having Jonathan Thrasher do them (he will be in Minneapolis) September 29th, and I bet he would give us a group discount.....

We sent STD's to 165 people, but have since removed a few from the list and added a few as well. So when our invites go out in a few weeks, we should be sending about 175 formal invites.

So far .. we have had 46 people put down deposits and get the booking process started.

We anticipate about 60-65 when all is said and done.

We sent out 100 invites. If we had the wedding here we probably would have invited about 75 more people, but we tried to keep our list to the close family & friends because the extended family & work friends we knew wouldn't go.

We were originally estimating about 20-30 ppl, then when we announced our plans so many people were excited and said they were definetly going, they were getting their passports, etc.... So we started thinking closer to 40 ppl, and then everyone had reasons why they couldn't go etc...

So, we're a month away and we have 24 booked including us, 2 of those people just booked this week and if anyone else changes their mind now, you may read about me in the papers, because someones gonna get hurt!

I'm sort of expecting this to happen too. people always back out of little trips or parties, etc. I know some people will change their mind about the wedding. I think it's important to keep plans flexible so you don't have to worry about what guest will do. but I also think guest should be honest if they are not sure & tell you right away if they are thinking of not going. Especially if you are having to pay for their meal, etc. even if they don't show up.

yeah, I think everyone has good intentions when they all say "we're going, we'll be there no matter what" but then they realize that they actually have to spend money to go on vacation (who would have thought!)

I'm kind of annoyed with the people that aren't coming to ours, mostly my friends because none of them are coming, but a lot of FI's are. But up until this week FI had no one coming from his family, so I'm glad that his brother and his wife are coming now.

Its funny because I say "none of my friends are coming", but you know what? I spend more time with FI's friends, which are my friends now too, and with FI's brothers wife, we're also friends, so I'm not going to worry about my friends that I never see anymore, its their loss if they don't want to come to mexico!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
