Beach towels in OOT bags

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I had the cutest idea...or so I thought

for my OOT bags, I was going to get a beachbag and put in sunscreen, playing cards, lotion, advil, a bookmark, shoutwipes, and (here's the kicker) monogrammed beach towels!

my mom has a monogramming sewing machine, so i wanted to find a set of beach towels and have her monogram the name of the resort and the wedding date...soooooooooooooo cute, right?

well, my fi doesn't think it's a really good idea b/c

-people don't need beach towels, the resort provides them

-we are going to have to lug about 50 towels to mexico (I have 25 OOT bags to make)

-and the guests are going to have to find room in their suitcases to lug the beach towels home

What do we think? Yeah or nay on the beach towels?

The beach towels are a GREAT idea, but too bulky. When we went for our site visit, we realized how much stuff we were bringing.. We were lucky enough to go early and bring two totes and a large duffle bag, but still have a ton of stuff between pashminas and flip flops we're going to have sooo much stuff.

I love that your mom has a machine. Hoodies and stuff are soo expensive to have done.. I bet she can do all that for you. (If that's your thing)

I provided beach towels in my OOT bags but not all of them. My guests did use them since they were more plush than those at the resort. It was bulky ( we had two coffin storage bins) but I loved the end result. I wish that I could have monogrammed them but cost did not permit.... I would've selected my logo instead of the resorts name to keep the theme.

In hindsight I wish I would've done really classy looking margarita glasses or shot glasses as well/instead of. To appease FI if necessary suggest a smaller item. Good luck!

We're doing beach towels in ours. It's part of the overall theme of the OOT bags--- We just got basic cheap towels that were on sale at Anna's Linens and are putting in suntan lotion, after-sun care, custom word puzzles (based on marriage and each of our interests) and pens, hard plastic re-usable margarita glasses in our wedding colors, travel size tequila bottles, beach themed notebooks, cards / poker chips, beach themed travel candles, bath salts in our wedding colors, snacks, and some other stuff I'm not remembering right now...

I wanted to do the towels as well. Then I realised how much we have to bring with us and how much of a hassle towels would be and they just weigh too much. So, I decided against it. They might not be to expensive to make but I bet you will go over on your weight because of them, and that will end up costing you a lot more.

I say leave them out, or just get that and not an OOT bag.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
