Trying to Choose our Punta Cana Resort

My fiance and I have decided on Punta Cana as our destination for our 2012 wedding.  We've met with our travel agent and narrowed down the resort search to three resorts:  Dreams Palm Beach, Majestic Colonial, and NOW Larimar (previously a different resort).  Has anyone traveled to any of these resorts, or is anyone planning their own wedding at one of these?

I've read good and bad reviews for each place, but I am probably just as confused as when I started.  Haha...that's wedding planning, I guess!  I would appreciate any input anyone has!

I have not stayed at either of those places. I did however stay at the Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro, which is right next door to the Majestic.

My husband and I took a walk over and snuck in to see what it looked like. Its very nice, very modern feel to it. Our friends have stayed there and they said they enjoyed it. Althou one of them got pretty sick there. But that can happen with anywhere in domincan.

The Gran Bahia Principe is where I got married this past July. It was perfect. My husband and I stayed there 2 yrs prior for vacation and wanted to play it safe for the wedding. So we went back there. We love the Bahia. Great food, lots to do, and our wedding turned out perfect.

I know I probably wasnt much help......but my friends enjoyed Majestic.

Welcome! Congrats on narrowing down your location! For us that was the hardest part.  Although I have never been to Punta Cana, my family has travelled there and stayed at the Dreams resort.  They loved it and had a blast for what they said.  The only downfall for them was there was a lot of kids.  Good luck with your decision!

I am plnning mine at the Majestic Elegance!!! I am really excited about it! I have seen a lot of photos at the Paradisus Punta Cana which was another option for us.  The only thing to be leary about is all the resorts nickle and diming.  If your date is available I would do the wedding/reception either at the JellyFish Restaurant or on the La Barcaza wedding boat.

We are doing the Symbolic wedding at the resort then the reception is going to be on La Barcaza.

Hope this helps and HAPPY PLANNING!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
