Hi guys,

I'm wondering a few things, have you guys heard of Cravings Bakery in Maui?

Also, have you guys chosen to have square or round cakes?  I can't decide.

Lastly, are you getting fondant or buttercream frosting?  I've never been a fan of the fondant but I know it makes it look fancier.

Thanks in advance!

We were in maui and had the opportunity to try both of the companies mentioned here. DO NOT USE MAUI WEDDING CAKES. They rubbed us the wrong way and they cakes we tried were so-so. After visiting with them we hoped we could find someone that would produce a good cake. We even thought about baking our own cake in the condo becuase we could do better. Their facility is in their home and very small. Normally I would not care about that but in this case seeing it adding to the bells going off in my head. The attitude cheryl had was shocking. If you have used her or will be I hope your experience is not like the one I had.

Our wedding coordinator referred us to Patricia at Cravings Bakery. We were able to get in for a last minute tasting and were amazed at the facility and flavor. She does amazing work!! Her price is a little more if I remember right but I am willing to pay it. We were able to taste many different things and see actual cakes she was working on or had completed. For us it was a no brainer to use her.

Wow.  I had a complete opposite experience with Maui Wedding Cakes.   When we went out there for our scouting trip in June, Cheryl was very nice and accommodating and gave us 6 large pieces of cake that we wanted to sample.  I thought it was quite delicious.  That sucks that you had a bad experience.   I will be leaving for Maui in 1.5 weeks for my wedding and I can give a review once i'm back.

We are also using Maui Wedding Cakes. I have not had any samples, but the restaurant where we are having our reception uses them and Cheryl has been super nice. We ordered a 2 tier cake that serves about 24 with buttercream frosting (but it looks really smooth) and it was $220 including tax and delivery.

Fondant makes the cake look alot better especially if your adding piping and flowers but a big thing is the cost, servings and taste. Even more important is the person whos doing the cake/cupcakes. Ive had a really good expeirence with Night Owl Cupcake. Their service was awesome and the 2 tier wedding cake they made for my cusins wedding accompanied but the matching cupcakes were beautiful. Also their prices were cheaper than most! Good luck....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
