Is July too HOT and should we change our date?

Recommended Posts

We just returned from our trip to Cancun for my friends wedding and to tour Cancun Palace for our wedding on July 20th.  It was AMAZING!  BUT every time we told a local our date they gave us 'that look' and said it is VERY HOT in July.  Now we are worried and are wondering if we should change our date but the only other time we could do it would be the 1st week of June.  PLEASE let me know any and all thoughts/opinions!!

urmmm., kinda. ; )

the first time I went to cancun/playa, it was september, the second was easter, and the third was july 4th. in july, the day we arrived it rained (??), the second day was nice with clouds in the distance, but on the third day when the cloud cover evaporated, we had to go inside our rooms midday to cool off. and we're from texas. : )

if you look at the weather map, july is generally hottest, but the variation on either side seems to small to notice.

if you ask my mom, playa is too hot ALL the time (she hates the humidity ; ), though it was the sun that got to us on the third day. knowing how things go in Texas, the end of july and into august is hottest. the same may be happening in mexico. you may get some relief by hosting the wedding in the start of july instead, but depending on the weather, it could be just the same. either way, I think it's a gamble - just go with what makes you happy and tell everyone to deal. ; )

I'm also a July 2012 Bride and that was one of my concerns but then i just went with it. The same looks that you got from the locals was the same thing I got.  I figured by having the wedding start later on in the day like 5:30  or 6pm. I should not be that bad. I'm hoping.

Like I really want to have an outdoor reception and even my WC is suggesting it may be too hot for an outdoor rececption. I'm like even at 7pm? I'm not going to worry about it. Its the Mexico. Its suppose to be hot and if i wanted an inside reception then I would of just stayed in the states and had it at a hotel like everyone else.

Hey,

So I have been to Cancun about 8 times during june, july and august and to be perfectly honest all three months feel relatively the same. A June wedding is just as hot as a July wedding so no worries, its mexico, we are all going to be sweaty and its going to be great. I agree with the outdoor vs indoor reception...I didnt choose to get married in mexico to do it inside the ugly ball rooms!

About 7 months ago I booked July 2 as our wedding date at Le Blanc however I recently found out they booked another wedding on the same night and the space we hoped to have our reception (and the reason we fell in love with le blanc for our wedding) would not be available since she booked it for her ceremony at the same time. Right now we are hoping to be able to move the date by one day since our invites went out and guests have already booked..so heartbreaking and stressful that we cant confirm both ceremony and reception space upon booking..grr

anyway, goodluck with the planning and enjoy your July wedding, you will not notice a difference in the weather and heat if you move it to june or even august (august is actually the "coolest" of the three summer months)

Enjoy!!!

Lauren

aww so sorry to hear that lau, hope it works out. @hansen remember its your wedding, and regardless of how much you try to accommodate everyone for the "weather" it will still be a problem. the summer months will always be hot in mexico and the way this weather has been, who knows what it will actually be like. You will still have an awesome time!! enjoy woot2.gif

Thank you all for your replies and 1st off I am also sorry to hear about the double booking at Le Blanc.  We are going to be at Cancun Palace and JUST got our official confirmation today!!  With the hassles I had up front I can't say it surprises me, sadly, that happened.  I hope you are able to get what you want within your time.  Did you have a confirmation and then found out or were you in the planning stages?

About the weather, I guess since WE ARE CONFIRMED (YAY!) for July 20th, no turning back now.  And I totally agree that I don't want anything INSIDE!  It will be fabulous and I will be shopping for less fabric for my dress!  :)  Your responses helped ease my mind!  Sure it will be hot but one thing I know when I travel in the winter is that it sure it nice to be in warm weather while we are on vacation but I find it DEPRESSING to come back to the cold!  This way we will leave when it is hot and still return to enjoy our summers end and beginning of fall.  Win-win!!!

Congrats to you all!!  Any other Cancun Palace brides past or present??

Becky

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
