If you're looking in Nassau, there are a couple of brides who are exploring the Beach Club Cafe (http://www.beachclubcafebahamas.com/) which is just lovely and windswept.  Also right there is the Poop Deck (http://www.thepoopdeckrestaurants.com/sandyport/index.html) and while the name isn't wedding-ideal, the food and view are tremendous.

If it is just a small wedding and you're looking for something a little different, A Stone's Throw Away (http://www.astonesthrowaway.com/) is awesome (note: not on the beach.  High on a hill, views are gorgeous).  Ours was too big to have here, but we stayed here for a few days for our honeymoon and just absolutely fell in love with the place.

The Out Islands are great too; I really wanted to have our wedding on Eleuthera or Harbour Island but transporting limited mobility family members with ease became an issue.

Other than that, I absolutely do not recommend Riu on Paradise Island and as far as where I did mine, proceed with caution.

Hope this is helpful!  Good luck!

Hi there! I was a Beach Club Bride but due to the expense (you have to rent the place out so $3500 for half a day and $6000 for a whole day and that does not include food) it looks like were going to go with the Poop Deck (which is also called sandy port something - I'm sorry I can't remember at the moment- but that might look better on your invitations- I however love the idea of the word poop on my pretty lacy invitations)

Were also thinking of A Stones Throw Away for the reception and family staying there, it has 10 rooms and can hold 40 people, Ive read mixed reviews on Trip advisor, the local wedding planner (any my guy) recommended it so I'll check in out when I visit in a couple months. It's far west on the island so it is a ways from downtown and the fish fry and Atlantis where all the excitement happens if you were wanting to be close to the action. but I'm really like Anna and Linda (I believe her name is) the wedding planners who also coordinate Poop Deck weddings, and I was against the expense of the wedding planners since most hotels have one, but I'm feeling differently after they called me on Saturday and Sunday this weekend to help me with my wedding. I think I need them in my life :)

Anyway I've been to a nice wedding at the Sheraton but don't have background information except it was $40 or $50 a plate and there was not much food on my plate. I have heard great things about Atlantis weddings (although expensive) I have heard a lot of negative things about Sandals, RIU and Breezes from the locals. I've never been to a Wyndham wedding, although I've been to the hotel many times ( I like their pool) but Wyndham is one of the least expensive hotels that doesn't have roaches and bed bugs so it should be worth a look. I also have heard good things about the British Colonial Hilton (although pricey as well). There is a Bahamas bridal association and they have approved vendors, I wouldn't stray from that list. Also if you go to the Bahamas website, they have a department set up within the ministry of tourism that is just for helping brides who want to have a wedding in the Bahamas - I believe it's free.

Hope this helps, if you need anything else I'm happy to help. Also skp1 and Mrs.Weiss are some of my favorite fellow Bahamas Brides - look over there posts

emjonesnyc - I am doing my wedding and reception at sandyport as well.  we are getting married in may 2012.  I am using weddings in the bahamas as my wedding planners.  all seems good so far.  have you booked your vendors? what hotels are you recommending to guests?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
