Hello Ladies,

My name is Amie, and I am from Chicago as well!  Chi-town represent :)  My FI is from MI so we decided to get married at Dream Tulum in May 2013 so our families can all meet.  He proposed while we were on vacation for my 30th in Kauai!  So excited, gonna start working on STD boarding passes.  I am not very crafty, but finished my 1st DIT project for my BP.  So exciting to see a midwest group!

Hi everyone!

My name is Andrea and I am from Wisconsin. I will be getting married in Montego Bay, Jamaica on April 27, 2013. My fiance Dave and I had been thinking about wedding plans, budgets, etc and after doing some research we decided it was more economical for us to have a destination wedding. We get a vacation out of it, so we don't have to pay for a separate honeymoon, and we both liked the idea of having a smaller, more intimate wedding. We will still have an AHR after we return, but not as extravagant as if we were doing the standard wedding reception here.

I have already found so many helpful ideas and tips from this site and look forward to much more. I have completed our wedding website and will be sending out our STDs at the end of the week. I'm so excited!

Hi Andrea!!

I'm from Wisconsin too, just north of Milwaukee.  What area are you from?

Getting out of Wisconsin in April is great.  It's a great start to the spring!

Hello everyone! My name is Natalie and I am a Midwest Bride as well. I am from a suburb about 40 miles outside of Detroit Michigan. I am getting married in Punta Cana, DR sometime in January 2013 (just waiting on the flight prices, should be this week!!). I am finally down to 2 resorts to chose from and I am ready to start the DIY processes. I plan on doing including the invitations, OOT bags, gifts, Itinerary, etc. My fiance and I got engaged in the DR June 3rd, 2011 and we decided thats where we want to get married but at a different hotel (wasn't a huge fan of our first place we stayed there). We plan on having a AHR reception, more like a casual bbq, for the people who cannot make it. I can say...this has been quite a process and I still have 11 months to go. From some family/friends being rude and saying mean things about our destination wedding to not being able to choose a resort, to seraching for all of the details...but I would not give it up. I am so happy we chose a destination wedding. We have been together for 10 years( yeah I know!) and are ready for this!

I am glad to see more Midwest Brides on here!

Is has been such a weird winter in the Midwest hasnt it? I am used to tons of snow and total for the entire winter I think we have had 8 inches, which always melted the next day because it was 40 degrees! LOL. Most odd winter I have ever seen, makes me happy we sold our snowmobiles last year. ;-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
