2012 Riu Palace Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi Terbear,

I know Suzanne Morel's salon has airburshing...Its expensive there though: $125.00 for face and body and $105.00 for body bronzing.

I don't think the Spa at the RIU had it...Its a super small spa, I was very surprised.  I was told the RIU Santa Fe Spa is larger than the one at the Palace, but we never checked it out so I couldn't say for sure.

What is airbrush tanning??  Also, Kary - I am curious if you received the room up-grade?  Thanks for adding pics!  Loved looking at them - they are great!

Kary, Thanks! Wow...those prices are nuts!!! I will just deal with pasty white people and tans lines...including myself! Lol. Maybe I will bring my own tan in a bottle!! Valerie, Airbrush is like spray tanning but done by an actual person onto your body not the machines. So you don't get the running and streaking! Its done with an airbrush like airbrushed make-up but bronzer for your whole body that typically last a week! Thanks All!!

Hi Valerie!

Yes I ended up getting the room upgrade, but I had to ask for it.  We had a GREAT view from our room, # 3063...See pic below.  It was also by the quiet pool and nice because it was right off of the lobby (the Lobby is on the 3rd floor) view from room.jpg

Just a heads up, I pretty much think if you were on the 3rd floor, you had a view of the ocean.  My inlaws paid for an ocean view room, and were on the 2nd floor and were mad because everyone else didn't upgrade, and they had a better view than their "ocean view room."

You can also go to the front desk every morning and give them the list of your guests that are arriving and request for them to be at least on the same side of the resort as you.  The resort is HUGE, so its nice to have people close, or at least your bridesmaids.  You may even want to go the evening before if you have a lot of people coming in the same day.

Happy Planning!

Kary, Great review. Thank you so much! I am planning a wedding there for April 27, 2013.

My biggest fear is that there will be an ugly cruise ship in the water behind my wedding. You also mentioned water taxis pulling up to the beach.

Was this a problem for you? I don't seem to see any in the background of your pics so far. My wedding will be on a Saturday at 4pm like yours so maybe I will get lucky, too.

Did you happen to notice when the ships came around? I would like to avoid them if at all possible.

I got married on Friday, April 13th and there were no cruise ships. I arrived on Tuesday and there were cruise ships there all day and night on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Far as the water taxis, they leave from behind RIU Santa Fe, so there were never any behind the Palace during my week stay. I even took the water taxi few times to town and Lovers Beach. I had to walk down to the Santa Fe to get on.

    • OMG these are incredible! Seriously blown away by the thoughtful detail you have put into every aspect of your gifts, your guests are going to be amazed! Props to you for adding so many personal touches and putting in so much time to make these gifts amazing!
    • These bags are amazing!! You are so organized and detailed, I am so impressed! I LOVE the Vistaprint stuff you ordered, the logo is so cute, I love your personalization!
    • I love etsy!! It's a great place to find personalized gifts without such a hefty price tag. I was thinking of getting my bridesmaids personalized necklaces with their names on them. I found these ones that are affordable and you can pick the chain length and different fonts, so you can really make them your own and pick what you know each bridesmaid will want. https://www.etsy.com/listing/595334072/personalized-name-necklace-stainless?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=personalized necklace&ref=sc_gallery-3-9&plkey=a8662525c53ec285c1b46b0f308162d0591edff8:595334072
    • Hi everyone, I am so happy that I am getting married to the love of my life. He proposed me and we are getting married within in a couple of months. And I have started preparations for my big day. I am super excited about a lot of things and also worried about many things.I have some inhibitions about my face and skin. Since I am a working woman, I have never got much time for personal care. This is the right time for it now. I need  proper medical grade skin care. Want to improve my skin tone and texture  I read some details about it here, https://www.mcleanclinic.com/nonsurgical-procedures/non-surgical/skin-care/, and found it really helpful. Can anyone of you suggest me some more tips? Like what I can do at home to have a glow on my face?  Thanks in advance.
    • I think you should approach the dentist. That would be the best idea as of now.
