hi everyone, I have a question, when does the hotel need the guest list by? and what was the best way for your guest to book their hotel/air? Some of my wedding guest usually book their vacations through bookit.com or other all inclusive vacation sites.

Hi Mmisa, The hotel needs your final guest list about a month before so they can confirm how many people you are actually having at the wedding/reception and to determine your bill (you won't pay or get your final bill till you arrive.) We had 52 people come with us, and decided to use a travel agent to make it easier on bookings. We were able to get a group rate with the RIU through our travel agent. You have to shop around. We were also given credits based upon how many people booked. For instance, I think we got back $25.00 for every person that booked through our agent. We went through Apple vacations, but I know delta has a similar program. It really helped cover our travel costs. Good luck! Kary

Yeah at first the RIU asked me to book through their group. I didnt like the fact that I had to pay for all the rooms and some how my guest will just have to pay me. I didnt wan to go through all that hassle and stress. thanks so much again! =)

Hello ladies

 

I am getting married November 14. I am just a little worried that the reception location we want will be already booked. Has any of you past brides had any problems with not getting the locations you wanted? Also was it pretty close to 2 months prior to your wedding that the coordinators contacted you?

Kari, Thank you so much! I love absolutely everything about your wedding. All of the big and small details, perfect! You just helped me finalize my decision to have my wedding at the Riu. It has taken me FOREVER to decide between Riu Dreams and Barcelo. There is SO much to consider especially the cost for guests in order to make everyone happy. One question: did the hotel provided the chair covers and the pink sheet over the huppah, or did you bring those?

The resort provides white linens which include chair covers. I'm sure about the sheet over the huppah.
