Need Help - Father Daughter Song - Unusual Situation

Hi Everyone,

I hate to bring sad news to such a happy eventful forum, however I need help....I am not very good at remembering songs by name or singer so song choices can be very difficult for me.  I am trying to pick a song for my wedding next year, for my father/daughter dance.  However my father unexpectedly had passed away a little shy of a month ago.  I am wanting to pick out the song while his memory is at its strongest, but I need help with suitful songs for this situation.  I will most likely be dancing with my little brother (who is not so little, he's 22).

Here are a couple that I found by doing searches....

Dance with my Father - Luther Vandross

There You;ll Be - Faith Hill

Daddy's Hands - Dunn Holly (I am not sure how this one sounds, I am not sure if I have actully listened to it yet)

I am hoping maybe all the lovely brides out there may be able to provide me with other options :)

Thanks so much for all your recommendations.

Wendy

I'm sorry it's such a sad situation and I think it's lovely that you and your brother will honor your father by dancing for him.  I'm the same as you with songs and titles, so I don't really have much advice, except maybe pick the same one you would have if you were dancing with him.  Or chose the one you think he would've liked the best.  I know that my dad always envisioned "Daddy's Little Girl", so I picked that, even though it's not the most original choice, b/c I knew it meant a lot to him.

Are there any songs that you know he loved? That might be nice.

I think you and your brother dancing together is really sweet. A friend played a song for her dad at her wedding (just a clip, and no dancing) - they did it to a cool acoustic version of "Twinkle, twinkle little star", since she had a memory of her dad singing that to her and her sister when they were really really little. Not a dry eye.

Pick something meaningful to you, and it will be wonderful. I am sorry you are in such a sad situation.

So sorry to hear of your dad's passing. :(

The song my Dad and I will be dancing to is "Somewhere over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Here is the youtube link to listen:

My Dad loves this song. Very beachy too! Your Dad truly is "Somewhere over the Rainbow" and he'll be watching down on you on your big day with a big smile on his face!

Good luck with everything!

Thanks so much ladies, I really appreciate the help and advice.

He loved Elvis....that was his favorite singer of all time...maybe i should listen through some of those songs and see if there is anything that is suiting to consider as well :)

Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened through the ages just like wine

Quiet thoughts come floating down
And settle softly to the ground
Like golden autumn leaves around my feet
I touched them and they burst apart with sweet memories,
Sweet memories

Of holding hands and red bouquets
And twilights trimmed in purple haze
And laughing eyes and simple ways
And quiet nights and gentle days with you

Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened through the ages just like wine,
Memories, memories,

Of holding hands and red bouquets
And twilights trimmed in purple haze
And laughing eyes and simple ways
And quiet nights and gentle days with you

Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened through the ages just like wine
Memories, memories, sweet memories, memories...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
