Less then 2 weeks until EDD and we STILL don't have a name!  A few weeks ago, I thought we were set on Xavier b/c Matt sent me a text saying he thought that was it and I had been loving it for awhile.  So I kinda stopped thinking about it and was counting on being done and our son's name being Xavier Ryan.  Then Matt came home with a suggestion of "Marshall" the other day and I knew we weren't on the same page. While Marshall might be a great name for someone else, it is def nowhere near a name for my child.

So yesterday we actually had a good conversation about it.  I asked how he felt about Xavier and he said he liked it but wasn't loving it anymore.  He's still pushing for Dominic.  I tried to explain my feelings about Dominic, but it's weird.  I really like the name, like if we were pregnant with #2 and it was a boy, I'd still want Dominic on the list.  But I just don't feel like it's THIS baby's name.  Maybe I'm afraid to pick such a tame name and be stuck?  Maybe I feel like I need a more different/unique name for baby #1?  I really don't know b/c I do like Dominic, but I don't want to use it right now.

Then he mentions Matthew again and I said what I've said all along, I would do Mateo but not Matthew.  I don't really care for naming children after people (contradiction being that we are using my brothers name as baby's middle name) especially after their fathers.  But I like Mateo as a name and I LOVE Teo as the nickname.  I don't want two Matt's in my house.  He has always pressed that we would name him Matthew and just call him Mateo to call him Teo and I think that's silly and I'm just not willing to budge there.  Finally yesterday he says it's a consideration, he would do Mateo.

So his favorite is Dominic, my favorite is Xavier, but we both agree on Mateo.  I still really really realllllllllly want this baby to be Xavier but realize that a compromise might be necessary, so now I have to consider that Mateo is his name.

NAMING BABIES IS HARD!!!!

Wow, Carly, less than 2 weeks!! How are you feeling?

I have to say, I love Mateo, it's a great name!

Xavier is a great name too, but I have a friend called Xavier and EVERYONE calls him "X" so will you be OK with that? With Mateo the nickname of Teo is absolutely adorable, just love that!!

So we had our 20 week scan yesterday and found out we are having a baby girl!! We are over the moon.

My husband was absolutely set on the name Margaret, but I'm sticking to my guns and saying abolsutely not!!

yay, carly!  i can't believe baby D (i almost said baby X to indicate no name, but i changed it!) is almost here!  i feel like the pregnancy went super fast but this whole journey of getting prego and staying prego ... FOREVER.  i am over the moon excited for you and i can't wait to meet this little guy!

and joanne ... YAY, a girl!  i actually think margaret is pretty cute, but i kind of like those older, traditional names.  they're really not for everyone though.  what's your #1 name, i forget?  (i wil try reading back)

Yay for a baby girl!!!  Please talk baby names here, I LOVE talking names and girl names are so much more fun to discuss (for me anyway).  And wow, 20 weeks already?  That crept up on me!

What's the hubbie link to Margaret, is it a family name or does he love a nickname for it, or does he just like the name?  Just wondering.  And what are you top picks?

Ann - I'm with you.  The entire journey has been YEARS, but the pregnancy seems to be going fast.  Well, it did until the last few weeks when I decided that I am DONE.  12 days!

Carly I can't believe you have just 12 days to go! Keep us posted please!

Whilst we were keeping the pregnancy a secret, the first 13 weeks seemed to last forever, but the last 7 have flown by.

I think  I felt movement yesterday, but can't wait for that 100% sure feeling of knowing it was the baby, any day now fingers crossed.

Ann I love older traditional names too, but I just don't like Margaret.

Hubby has no link to it, he's just always liked it. And I don't like the idea of shortening to Mags or Maggie.

I think we have some chance of agreeing on girls names though (besides Margaret!), but had we found out we were having a boy it was possible that WW3 may have erupted as we had no names at all in common that we liked. My fave for a boy is still Milo. But for now need to get back focusing on girls names!

Still a ways to go but happy that we can now say her/she.

Oh as I'm typing I'm drinking hot tea and I'm pretty sure the baby is moving, but how to be sure??!!

I think if you *think* you feel it, you're feeling it.  I felt movement pretty early and was really unsure, but it was like nothing I had ever experienced before.  Then when I KNEW that I was feeling him, I realized that what I thought was baby moving earlier was definitely baby moving.  If that makes sense, so I'd say that YES you are feeling her move!!!  YAY!

I'm not a fan of Margaret myself (even though it was my Nana's name), but there are a ton of nicknames, way more then Mags/Maggie/Marge.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_(name)

It has a large number of diminutive forms in many different languages, including Maggie, Madge, Marge, Meg, Megan, Mog, Moggie, Rita, Daisy, Greta, Gretel, Gretchen, Magee, Marg, Margot, May, Molly, Margo Sanna, Margi Meggie, Peggy and Peg.

Molly is my fave, but I know a Margo and I think that's pretty adorable too.  Just throwing that out there.  I actually kinda like Rita too, which I wouldn't have thought...

And I hear you about WW3 for boys names!  We've not been fighting the last few discussions, but we certainly are having trouble agreeing.  Oh and you asked earlier about calling Xavier, X.  That def wouldn't be ok with me and I'd be correcting that early.  If he chose to go by that later, that's one thing, but as a baby/child, that's not going to fly.  The nickname that we would use are Xav or Xavi, pronounced Zav or Zavi.

Carly - any news?? You are about a week past your due date right? Can't wait to hear from you. Hope you are home snuggling your son right now!!

So tell us the big news too, what was the final decision on a name?

Hope you can post a photo, would love to see your little angel!

Since I last posted, I've gone from "thinking" I was feeling movements and flutters, to feeling full on little baby kicks, I think she's practicing for her blackbelt, lol! Love every little movement, it reassures me so much. I can almost set my watch to when I lay down in the evening to watch some TV, right around 8pm, she starts kicking up a storm! We thought it would be a while longer before my husband could feel anything but he's already been able to feel a couple of kicks too, it's so exciting!

On names, we are still throwing some names around.

It's funny because we could never agree on a boys name at all, so it was almost a relief when we found out it was a girl, but after all of that we both have a boys name we love, lol! We were watching TV and they said the name Luca and my husband was like "hey l like that if we were having a boy", and I love it too. So I guess if this little girl turns out to be a boy we have a name!!

Speaking of which ..... we heard that if they told you that you were having a boy, then you could be sure it was a boy, but if they tell you girl there is still a chance it good be a boy. Anyone have this situation? Family have alrady started buying baby clothes (all pink of course), and we went shopping this weekend to start buying what we need and there are definitely things we got that are not gender neutral.

How is everyone else doing?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
