I just wanted to announce that I will be blogging once a week for The Budget Savvy Bride (http://thebudgetsavvybride.com/), so if anyone is interested in some tips about saving money, feel free to check it out! I had to slash our budget awhile ago, so this helps keep me in line for that!

I was introduced this week on her blog so I am super excited!

Lots of good tips by the other bloggers, and I am pleased to be bringing the destination ideas!

Thanks so much! I had a great DIY weekend last weekend... finished some invitations, DIY "laminated" bookmarks, kids' activity booklets, ceremony reserved seating signs, and distressed "Mr." and "Mrs." signs for the reception for FI and I. Very pleased with them!

I love everything you've done! good for you! I might just take on a few of these projects myself rolleyes.gif

Go for it! And thanks!

Here are the bookmarks I made this weekend.

1000

They say "Dominican Republic 2013" on the front, and are stamped with our names and wedding date on the back. I "laminated" them with clear packing tape. :)

And here are the children's activity books for our at-home reception. (No kids coming to our DW)

There are quite a few pages... some general games (dots and squares, sudoku, tic tac toe) and beach themed word searches, find-a-picture, matching, follow-the-dots, and so on. Some wedding themed ones too - cartoon couple match-up, colouring pages, and so on. Fun for the little ones!

I am a teacher, so something like this was a must... and not too hard either! The kids coming are going to be ranging in ages. There won't be very many, but I thought that was all the more reason to have something to occupy them while adults and talking or whatever. Each child will also get a mini pack of crayons.

You could easily use something like this for the wedding itself too. I am thinking it would be great for plane rides!

How did you make the bookmarks??

I just did them on Word, then placed a text box on it. Printed them off in colour, then used clear packing tape (yup, that's right) on them to "laminate" them. I printed off Dominican Republic, 2013 and glued them on the back, then "laminated" them there too. Then I hole-punched them and used ribbon and hemp cord for the ends. Hope that helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
