Gifts for Bridal Party

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I just wanted to share the idea I came up with for gifts for the Bridal Party.

I decided to go with some jewelery from 'Stella and Dot' for the girls.  There are some really pretty earrings, rings and bangles that would match, but not be the exact same.  They're turquoise, so they'll match really well with the white, turquoise and orange dresses they have as bridesmaids dresses (http://www.sears.ca/product/jolietm-mc-floral-party-dress/648-000260133-4887)

For the guys, since we're also asking them to purchase matching pants and shirts, we're going to buy them a really nice pair of leather sandals.

I think that since we're taking the guests on a catamaran tour, we won't be doing any other type of oot bag.

What are other people doing for the bridal party?

Does it seem unfair to ask our bridal party to buy their own outfit, even though we're asking them to match?

Thanks,

First I want to say, those dresses are so cute!  I love them!  I haven't decided what I'm doing for gifts yet.  I'm only having my best friend as a Matron of Honor, and there will only be a Best Man as well.  I understand your concern in asking them to purchase their own outfit.  In fact, my Matron of Honor has a dress already that we may just go with, so she doesn't have to buy another one.  Its hot pink, and I wasn't actually planning on having pink as one of my colors, but I also fell in love with a bouquet that has a couple hot pink accents.  Anyways... back to your questions lol, I'm trying to help out so she doesn't have to buy her outfit.  But she has also made it very clear that she would go out tomorrow and buy a dress in a color I wanted if I decided I didn't want the pink.  So I would think your bridal party had already had an idea that they would have to buy their dress or shirts or whatnot anyway.

I think its really nice that you are treating them to a catamaran tour, so you are obviously providing them with experiences as part of their gifts.  And the shoes and jewelry are a great gift they can use again, not just for this one time event!  I was thinking about getting my MOH jewelry as well but I also want to do something extra special for her and the Best Man since they are the only two in our party.

There is a thread dedicated to bridal party gifts, I'll come back in a few hours when I have some time to update and give you the link.

LOVE those dresses.  My wedding was orange and turquoise also, with a splash of pink, so obviously, I love your colors!

And our entire bridal party paid for their own clothing, just as they would in a non-DW wedding.

We bought our bridesmaids dresses and our groomsmen's suits as their gifts, but I should caveat that: we only had 2 bridesmaids and 2 groomsmen, so there were less people to satisfy.  I also let my bridesmaids pick both the color and style of dress.  I am also giving each of them silver picture frames with photos of themselves and their significant others after the fact.

I realize this is a nontraditional route, but we sat down and had a frank discussion and everyone agreed that they would rather not have to worry about purchasing their own attire than to have some sort of trinket (they don't know they're getting the frames yet, though; I just thought it would something nice for them to have).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
