Krysta, Thanks so much for the pointers and especially for including your pics so helpful! I agree with you whole heartedly, Jamaica itself provides a beautiful canvas that doesn't require a great deal of "fluff". I feel confident with the basics now that you were so kind to share pics!!

KristaD, I did use the Steel Drum band. We hired them to play at our cocktail reception for 1 hour. The cost was $490 which I know is a lot of money... but it was something important to us and every one of our guests enjoyed the music. So, I think it was worth it! They played a variety of songs including classics everyone will know. Any other questions on this, feel free to ask!

Happy planning!

Any brides out there host the reception at the plantation? We received the pricing for 2013 and it states a price but not what that all includes?
Hi! I just got married and hosted my reception at The Plantation. We paid $1000usd for 4hours. In an email I received from Keisha but in February, she explained that for 2hours it would cost $500 and $1000 for 4hours. We went with the Steakhouse menu and paid $10.50 for the additional over the free package we had gone with. If you chose the Plantation menu, it was at that time $55 pp. So if you chose the Plantation, be sure to verify which menu you are going with so there are no surprises when you meet We brought a Bose system with us and my sister's boyfriend who is a dj did all the music for us on the ipod. Part of the reason we paid for the Plantation was to play music throughout dinner and beyond. And we had the extra privacy. I believe there was only 2 weddings that day and the other party was by the pool. Also, I too went with the basic decor on the gazeboo. Only thing I added were starfishes I had tied up with raffia. But having the palm trees and the blue sea in the background is priceless! Can't ask for anything better :) Hope I answered your question but feel free to send me a message!

Well once again ror brides to the rescue, in o communication has there ever been mention that if. Stay with the steakhouse menu was there such a price difference. Thanks for the information I'm now armed better when I get her responses! Love the input on the gazebo decorations also really for as long as the ceremony is in the first place the decorations are small in the big picture. Thanks again!!

My advice to you is to enjoy every moment of it! Really and truly, don't sweat the small stuff! I was in such a panic the first few days because we didn't have an appointment time with Keisha/Patricia. But it turned out I didn't have much to worry about. All the things I had requested, she had noted and we discussed it.

Be sure to bring all your email communications with you just as back up. If there is something you want, be firm about it. I didn't want the free bouquet and wished instead to have rose petals. At first Patricia told me no that it was not possible as the floral company wouldn't allow it. When my brother's girlfriend showed up the next day and spoke with Keisha, it turned out that it was possible and Keisha made a quick call to Tai Floral and bam..I got my rose petals!

If there is one thing I could wish for was for time to slow down that day. It went by so fast. But it was the happiest I've ever been!

But my best wishes to you and your husband to be :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
