Trash the Dress and AHR??

I apologize in advance if this has already been asked - I did a search and found a lot of "Trash the Dress" threads but didn't quite get the answer I was looking for.

 

We are planning on doing a TTD shoot the day after our wedding. The plan is to wear "the dress" and not buy a second as I see some brides have done. However, we are doing an AHR 2 weeks later and I want to make sure that a good dry cleaning will do the trick after romping around on the beach, in the ocean, etc...or is my dress going to be too icky to wear for my AHR?

Hi- we had our wedding almost 4 months ago and we did a next day TTD on the sand and the beach......my dress was a mermaid all lace with beading.....it was absolutely FULL of sand and had some red stain from a drink from the reception on the bottom of it......I took it to our local cleaners, and $150 later my dress was BRAND NEW!!!! I couldnt beleive it!! Its sitting in my spare room at the moment and you would think it's never been touched.......

Hi Ashley,

 

I have now covered plenty of TTD in The Riviera Maya. Synthetic fabrics resist better.
According my experience Trash the Dress in cenote preserve better the dress (No sand and only fresh water). See below some samples of how look like these small peace of paradise in the Riviera Maya.

I think Cenote Trash the Dress is  a good alternative to not trash that much your dress! On my page about cenote TTD you will see more samples

I am in teh same boat as you, I want to do a trash the dress, but I don't want 2 dress and we are having an AHR one month after we return. 

 

My dress is a chiffon do you think that would be damaging to the material??

So far everything I have read has said that the cenote actually doesn't harm your dress...but here is what my photographer suggested:

 

"About your dress, the water at Cenotes is fresh, and doesn't damage the dress, but I understand your hesitation about it, even more because you are wearing it again. The cheap TTD is always a good option, I recommend you to choose a floaty, loose dress instead of mermaid shape, It will be always easier to swim, princess gowns works well, but will be so heavy under the water and hard to kick your legs."

 

I'm sorry I don't have much to offer I think a TTD session is out of our budget now so I haven't given it much thought recently :(

Would you have time to send your dress to a local dry cleaner after your TTD?  Maybe ask the WP at the resort.  We sent my wedding dress, my TTD dress, two linen shirts and two pair of linen pants to the cleaners in Playa and it cost us less than $100!!!  It was awesome to take home nice, clean dry clothes!!!  I bought my dress off the rack and I swear it looks better now than when I took it to Mexico!

 

I know LOTS of girls on here have raved about their TTD experience.  Ours was ok...there are some really nice shots...but after only 4 hours of sleep to get up and shoot at sunrise, I had a very grumpy groom who was ready to go over and clock the gawkers on the beach...he HATED being in the water with his clothes on (he has some hypersensitivity issues!)...security swept up our shoes, accessories, etc. that we had left in the sand and we had to wait a half hour for them on the beach to return them to us.  If I were to do it all again, I would have added 2 hours to the wedding day shoot instead to make it feel less rushed for everyone.  Then, the morning after the wedding, we could have just slept in, hung out in bed and ordered room service! ; )
