DJ or Audio Equiptment - Grand Riviera Princess

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.. Hoping you guys can help me. Were having a little trouble trying to decide if we should go with the resort DJ or rent the audio equpitment and control the music ourselves. I have read a couple negative reviews on the DJ and him not playing the music that is requested of him and him not doing any announcing. Does anyone have any advice??

When renting the audio equiptment do we get the use of a mic so that we and our guests can make speaches and announcements?

Also, durning the ceremony.. how loud is the music? Can your guests hear it? We able to bring our own music for the ceremony right??

Thanks!!

Hi VancityBride,

If you're there a few days before your wedding, go to the club they have there, it's the same DJ. He's gonna play basically what he plays in the club at the wedding.  He's also the technician if you decide to on ly get the equipement. At our wedding we had my brother in law taking care if the music using his computer. The best man did his speech during the reception with the cordless microphone provided with the audio equipment.

For the ceremony the miusic is loud enough for the guests to hear the music and you can bring your own music. U can have background music if you like during the whole ceremony

Hope this helps : )

Yes.. Thank you!! I was just a little worried because i read some negative reviews on the DJ. Maybe its best that we just get the equpitment and do it ourselves and this way we get exactly what we want. My gf got married in the domincan and they just used the equiptment and it was fine. Ahhh i dunno what to do.. I want it to be good music. Darn it.. now im just confused. Im happy about the ceremony music as well, i was a little worried about that.

When was your wedding?? Did you have any bumps to over come when dealing with the hotel planning?

All ive seen and heard from brides are that they havent heard from there WC, that goes for me as well. I still have 6 months, but some of these brides are getting married asap and havent heard back from the WC.. Did you have any trouble with this?

How are the WC when you get down there.. Are they easy to work with?

Easy to work with: not really. I got Emma and she tried to charge me almost double of what was previously agreed with the previous wedding planners. My suggestion: get everything in writting (email) and bring copies with you. And for some reason there is no supervisor> Her excuse, "he's currently in Russia for business"- Yeah right.

For the DJ, we also gave a DJ we love a list of songs and he mixed them for us on CD. It was perfect!

We got married Sept. 10th 2011.  We got our reception at la fondue and the tropical fruit cake. Everything was delicious. except the wine and champagne-yurk!

They tend to get back to you when your wedding is close. You can make some of the final arrangements when you get there-except for the welcome supper which has to be setupin advance if you want one.

Thank God the restof our vacation went prefectly besides the wedding planning issues, the resort is absolutely magnificent.

I just finally heard back from Emma and boy am I pissed! She is now telling me that i am not allowed to have an outside vendor come into the property (make up artist and DJ) but yet im allowed to have a photographer and photobooth. Im sooo irritated. And I have already paid for my makeup artist!! Then she tells me that for my cocktail hour which i was told i could have in La plaza area from 5-6pm, this now is after my ceremony at the gazebo where the ceremony was..not impressed. She said we could still do the cocktail hour in La plaza but it wouldnt be private, it will be shared witht the other hotel guests. Which im sure wont be a huge deal, but why have i been promised things that are now being taken away??!!

I dont know what to do. I have an email saved that i want to send but its a little nasty. I dont want to get angry and then it back fire on me. What do you suggest??

I have mentioned in my email (that i am about to send) that all these vendors were mentioned in previous emails and nothing was said that it was not allowed.

God im sooooo annoyed. I can get over not booking an outside DJ, but my make up..comonnn.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
