Hey Girls! One question for those of you who have visited and/or already had their wedding! I would say a majority of our guests are going to stay at The Royal but there will definitely be some that stay at the Gran Caribe (including my sister who is my MOH) since she has children. I just wanted your opinion if you felt it was a problem or hassle to see those guests during your stay. I know that it is a different resort and the policies associated with visiting but wanted to know the reality of it. This is probably the biggest stress for me. Please let me know your thoughts/opinions/experiences with this!

Hi Alicia,

I had my wedding at the Royal in July, and we only had 18 guest and me and groom total of 20, out of all of us 10 stayed at the caribe and it was stressful because  me and hubby had to split ourselves between both resorts and wanted to give attnetion to everyone.. and we also booked a master suite which we spent a lot of money on and wanted to take full advantage of it so what we did on most days was hang out with the Royal people/side and at night time we would all meet up in the Caribe lobby and catch up and have some drinks and there was always an event happening  we also did some things with them like the beach, parasailing etc... we did have a welcome dinner at the Caribe side which was really nice.. we tried to do a dinner the night before everyone left to come to the royal but it was way to expensive but the guest understood us and never made us feel bad about not spending enought time with them.. they took advantage of their time and went off and explored.

I just wanted to see how it looks decorated because honestly the pictures they have online do not make the ballrooms that appealing. I booked the Villas Terrace, however I think I want to have it indoors now 1) because I think people will enjoy the AC more and in the event of bad weather we we would already be set in there 2) I want my reception to me more than 3 hours and can't extend it outside during the season!

Thank you again!!

Hi!

Sorry for the delayed reply. Here are some pix of the ballrooms. When are you getting married?  Cause mine was end of June and it rained so we had to move everything inside. But originally we had ceremony set for 6 pm on the beach, with a 2 hour cocktail hour on the beach and then move into the ballroom for dancing. We figured after 3 hours on the beach our guests would be done with sand. However, in the end everything had to be inside and it still worked out well. BTW, if you go with all white for your wedding, like in my pix, that is included so you don't have to pay extra. Whatever q's you may have feel free to private message me.

Hi,

I am getting married on the 4th July 2013.

We are staying at The Royal, Cancun but getting married at 5pm in the chapel in Gran Caribe, we have the option of both hotels for the reception but I don't know what to do!

I think we will have about 20 at most attending and I have never done a site visit

I don't know what to do about cocktails, where to have them?? My planner suggested the courtyard outside the chapel?!.

I considered hiring the boat for a couple of hours cocktails but didn't know how long transfers would be etc.

I have then to have a semi-private reception which I don't know where to chose.

Followed by I don't know what and I don't know where!!!

Starting to panic now!!

Any help and advice would be appreciated!!

Hi Debs,

Its really a matter of what you would like for reception.. outside, inside??? I had my ceremony on the beach, followed by cocktail hour at the gazebo and back tot he beach for reception... I wouldnt have it any other way .. having my reception on the beach was a MUST!!!! luckyly it didnt rain because that had me freaked out a bit... The chapel is beautiful...

I am getting married in the catholic chapel at Gran Caribe in August of 2014 and my reception will be at the Royal.  I just received the documents from the wedding coordinator and it mentions that dresses can't be strapless?  Can you give me your feedback on this please? Did you have a strapless dress or have problems getting it approved??  Also, did you have a solo musician or did you bring your own music?

Thank you SO much!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
